Autumnal colours in Gordon - in winter : June 11 2024
An at home day. Walked up to shops to get a few things. The powers that be have triggered another panic - this time it is bird flu. And we have only one egg. Worse than that - there is no beer. Did find one of the last cartons of free range eggs. Maybe it is a ploy from cage chicken farmers to eat their product
Went for a 2nd walk to get the steps up. Theme for the photos was easy enough - winter colours starting with this acer tree
Ash or maple in yellow
Size of the leaves - probably plane trees along the railway line
A bit of colour in Gordon Reserve
In a garden overlooking the reserve was this yellow poinsettia - also a sign of winter
A walk in Gordon at this time of year has to include camellias - no exception today
A bit of posing for this camellia to show the top triangle of the house behind - probably a 50s house
Sun poked its head out to offer some fab colours alongside the railway line
The yellow of this tree almost matches the yellow of Beacon Lighting signage behind. Was tempted to stop in the Greengate Hotel for a beer. Cheaper at home and can hold off until after 6
Dinner: Chicken peri-peri in honour of Portugal Day. The flavours of my childhood with spices from South Africa
