Train round trip - Sydney and Kiama scenes : May 6 2024
A tough night chasing off a cold. Not keen to get up but I needed to get moving ti go pick up my wife's car. Decided to drive to Kiama to catch express train to Sydney and come back same day. Made the 1st train ahead of time and found parking easily enough
View across the station taking in some wall art and the sea in the distance
Train arrived on time - waited for the train to come in from down the line - only a short interchange
Interesting trip with some young ladies heading out to join a cruise - never seen so much stuff for 10 days away. Going to be a wild party
Changeover at Central was super easy - one platform away. Got out at St Leonards at walked down the way I walked up last week - knew the way. Car was ready. Quick drive home - checked a few things and headed back to catch a train to get me home before dark
Got on the wrong train - scheduling system had me on a train that loops North first and then goes down to Redfern
As it happens the train I was on also went to Redfern and was ahead of the planned train. Not spent any time on the platform - a few old railway buildings
Same design a bit further along plus the station sign
Maintenance sheds behind - now all shuttered up. Train was on time. Now for a twist - during the train up Fitbit told me I had 15 active zone minutes to hit the weekly target. That target is 80% of Max heart rate.
Now I have been sitting for lots of hours and not exactly doing anything - Fitbit beeps and says target achieved - my resting heart rate is under 70 bpm - this was the reading. This is not the first time - something is going on with the ticker. Tomenfor a doctor visit
Train trip down was a struggle - trying to stay awake, trying to stifle the sniffles. Sun was coming out - decided to get out one station early to walk
Walk goes along Bombo Beach for a whilemand then climbs up for good views back to the beach
Rainbow across the bay - at one time there too.
Got to say I was surprised to find the caffra flowering - normally spring time
Footpath through the gardens between the village and the sea - nicely done up - a flame lily of some sort
Church in late afternoon sun is a great subject
Sunset over the bay looking back toward Minnamurra Headland
And the view to the boat harbour. Got the steps in and got the car back home. Was a tough day with a cold - next time I will stay in town overnight. The best bit - the whole train trip was $2.50 on the senior concession. Saved a whack in fuel.
Dinner: Heated up yesterday pizza in the airfryer - a bit soggy but it was quick.
Trade action : Bought LIT.

Here is the telling chart - a spike in heart activity while I was sitting on my butt in the train
I was surprised to see a caffra tree in flower at the park on Sunday, should be more toward end of winter normally.
Orange day-lily is a pretty bloom, sea views as always breathtaking, the winner here for me is the old buildings on train stations with ours all destroyed.
You exceeded what was required, well done!
The autumn has been mild so far - plants think it is spring
Weather confused here as well, nice scenes from train trip.
