Shoalhaven Heads to celebrate 24 years : May 3 2024

avatar

Lots of rain overnight. Was a slow start after a late night with markets. Did get organised well enough to head south to Shoalhaven Heads mostly as the groceries were still in bags from the shopping. Left a little before midday

Brief stop at the Partridge VC rest area to buy fruit. Photo back toward the city

The lake is muddy brown from all the rain. Drive down to Mt Ousley was hard work in heavy rain - good news is the car exhaust work is good. Problem fixed

Stopped in Gerroa for the view to Seven Mile Beach - our home is at the other end of the beach

Have stopped here a few times. First time reading the blurb. The memorial is to the first commercial flight between Australia and New Zealand which took off from the beach. The memorial is a scale of the aircraft with its call sign. Photo has half in sight

The other half. Easy to miss the replica nature - go back to the first photo. The nose is at the front facing you and the tailplane is up the hill. Now I have a recall that this plan crashed in the Snowy Mountains. Seem to recall cycling past that site

Did get a chance to walk in some dry time - liked the angles of the shade cloth over the pool and the mountain behind

More angles.

Found a shortcut behind the bowling club - this has to be the least obstructed view of Coolangatta Mountain. The best is it is not far from the house. Will be up here more often. Time to dig out the drone to get above the powerlines

Am determined to cook well while I on my own. Did a bit of an airfryer journey for some of dinner - new recipe book

Wedge potatoes - a little oil and lemon zest and oregano - air fry at 200C for 10 minutes a side

Barramundi with a lemon herb crust - to be fried in butter

Served with a side salad.

Watched a classic AFL clash between Carlton and Collingwood. My team was ahead at this photo time but lost.

Why post that? Today is 24 years since I moved to Australia. There has been a lot of change and that photo of Seven Mile Beach is a key part of the dream. I wanted to live by the seaside. Not quite there but at least we now have a house at the seaside

And the best is it is only 30 minutes drove from my son and granddaughter. Hope to see her soon once I can shake off the cold I got the last few days.

Trade action: Sold GCI, AAF.L, IBCJ.DE. Bought 1AD.AX. Building cash margin
