Seven Mile Beach mushrooms plus river scenes : February 12 2024
Building up to a hot blue sky day. Start off looming after our friend's puppy so she can go to exercise classes. First steps come from walking the dog
Headed off to Berry to shop for a gift for a friend whose birthday is Feb 13. Photo of the old Berry Hotel - quirky sign for Feb - drinks 49% off
View up to Berry Mountain - cycled up that a few times
Cycled to Seven Mile Beach NP for a late walk hoping to find ant orchids - no luck as the track clearing has scared them off in two locations - maybe next season. Mushrooms instead - golden in colour
Spider action - qas able to get to both sides of this one to allow camera to focus
This mushroom looks like the other but a more golden colour
Greenhood rosette - part of the plan is to walk recce for the season - lots of weeks for flowers
Turning point is this huge banksia leaning across the path with flowers
On the way back a different greenhood rosette
Twining glycine
Happy with this photo - a tiny daisy - maybe 3 mm across
Mushrooms in brown too
Rode down to the river - photo of the island with tide coming in
Flathead corner
Pelican cruising
Good to get a ride and walk in. Do miss being able to ride easily to walks in Sydney
A different way to cook eye fillet. Brought the big Weber bbq down from Sydney - decided to use it for a change and to test the rules. Fire pits are not allowed but nothing in the rules about a charcoal barbecue. Get charcoal hot - sear both sides over the coals
Then bake for 40 minutes indirect heat - was a bit long. Clue: add the mustard after searing - tends to burn.
Worked well.
Trade action: Adjusted CBK.DE, DBK.DE. Bought CCJ. Credit spreads on CCJ and CVS

Nice findings along the way in nature, island looks intriguing are you able to visit?
The island is small - maybe 300 metres long and 75 wide. It stands maybe 3 metres above the river - when the river mouth is closed as it is now.
Answer the question. At low tide on a full moon you can walk onto the island without getting feet wet. Last visit I did that. The amazing sight was thousands of blue crabs on the sand. The videos I took - all you hear is the sound of running crabs

Oh boy I remember seeing this video, reminded me of once the water broke that had built up along the dunes here at Winklespruit thousands of crabs everywhere. Plenty large fish also died with sudden water gushing out. Sometimes wonder what fish we even have left in our rivers!
Little crabs of yours a pretty blue, ours were more orange shelled.
All that blue sky makes for some good photos, it also help that you have a good eye too.
