Shoalhaven River Island Walk : January 24 2024
Made an earlyish start to drive down to Shoalhaven Heads after a stop at storage unit to move some stuff out of there. Decided to drive the motorway route that we cam up the day before - is quicker but a lot longer
Stop for coffee and to buy fruit from the fruit man - nice views over the dam
Stormy sky building - we stopped 10 minutes. We got to the top of Mt Ousley in the time it takes to cross Sydney to Sutherland - at least 10 minutes faster and easier but more tolls
Went out late on the bike to walk the river. With the full moon tide is low - view to Coolangatta Mountain
Wind patterns shape the sand on Seven Mile Beach
Looking south across the closed river mouth - just to the right of the bird sign is Point Perpendicular which we visited a few days ago
Next photo is a low tide special - walked across to the island with Coolangatta Mountain behind - first time crossing to the island
Landscape view shows how wide the river mouth is. Imagine that flowing with water
Garden escapee on the island
Native flowers
Different angle on the mountain from the island
Spied this little blue crab all on its one. Not seen one of those - was worthy if a video. Little did I know
As I came around to the flats, the sand was a wave of crabs running away from the human - a swathe of blue and the chatter of hard shell rubbing against hard shell
A quite different interaction - me walking along the shore and an oystercatcher walking toward me. The crabs were squeezing sideways to get away from dual threat. Of note is the oyster catcher was not eating crabs - it did dig stuff out every now and then
A view of flathead corner from the island side.
More mountain views from spots normally under water
Pelican preening time
Fab to be able to take a short ride to get to the beach and river. Perfect way to get back to nature
Dinner was a left over event - too tired to cook.
Trade action: Credit spread on AI.PA. Bought PKX, EU, PAAS, BTE, HGG.DE, GLEN.L
