Move day plus one - some semblance of order : November 21 2023

The night was late packing stuff away. The sleep was restless with new light reflections and weird dreams. Was a struggle to get moving - we did - went to a local coffee shop known to my wife for breakfast

A welcome coffee to start

A big breakfast to share - well prepared and quick and plenty. We were ravenous. A little shopping done before we headed home. Back home to continue unpacking

My wife had been using the study chair while she packed the fridge. Now known as the executive chef chair - it is my chair after all

Focused in on key tasks for my part of living here - coffee machine installed on top of the outside fridge

Barbecue cleaned up a bit and installed and tested. This spot is undercover

Walked down to the apartment block where I rented a garage for my car to collect the remote - flowering angophora found on the way back. Now my car is secure and only one block away

Found homes for some of the art work - the lady in black got a black hat for laughs and a jaunty angle

We share a hallway with one other apartment - only he and we can access it. Hung up this painting we bought in Thailand. It is a scene from Hong Kong. People who can read Chinese will be scared away - it is some advertising for an inn of ill repute

I went down to the old house to pick a few things left behind

Key was these brackets to hang the drier. The one in the apartment does not fit no matter how hard the movers tried. A table - a birdbath stand - heaps of orchids.

The new owners were there - they have spent the dsy taking up old carpets. Knock on the door - I opened - "Salaam Reza" says I. Reza did all our painting jobs - he cleaned the roof tiles - he organised the roof fixer man. "We come from the same country" he says. I was pleased to have introduced him - they will make good clients and he will do a good job.

Was good to be there - could answer all the questions - show them how things work. Arrange for the neighbour to do next bin night. Introduce them to neighbour below. Good news is we can leave the trailer there until we are ready to take it down south. They will look after the mail

At home my wife unpacked and planned out kitchen stuff. It is a lot smaller and we have a lot of stuff. She did a great job.

We went down to local pub for dinner. Sat outside on a nice evening. And I parked my car in the new garage. Stopped at bottle shop on the way back for cold wine - unpacking did not get to the wine stocks

A big day but inching ahead
