Family day and new season tongue orchid : October 15 2023

Starting out for an at home day with my wife's family coming over for BBQ lunch. Headed out to shops to get some stuff for salads. Shops were busy - shopping on Sunday is not my idea of fun

Ollie liked his nibbles on a few of the bbq pieces - steak, ribs, chicken

He did like crawling around on the deck exploring - eating leaves

A bit of a meat extravaganza

Salads were there too. Was a nice afternoon sitting outside on a lovely afternoon

Headed out on the bike for a late afternoon walk to catch a few orchids - first one is a cheat as I knew where to find them - slender onion orchid

Microtis parviflora

These flowers are tiny - the size of a match head - makes it hard to get detailed image of the labellum. Its shape is key to ID

Sundew flower. Walked all the way to Gibberagong Track to see if the flying duck orchids down that way are up. None

Tear drop flower - also hard to get focused photos

Budding cryptostylis orchid - could not find a leaf to get ID

Corea flower - close look shows a split exposing the inner organs

Copper bearded orchid on the way back - new spot - calochilus campestris

Against the light

Found one new orchid for the season - tongue orchid - cryptostylis subulata

Got the family stuff done with good results. Got a ride in. Found a new season orchid. Riding was good as I was falling asleep sitting outside

Dinner: Was kind of thinking a sandwich. Made pasta with mushrooms and ham and sun dried tomatoes. Worked well
