First trim greenhood in Seven Mile Beach NP : May 1 2023
Sun came out after two days of rain. Good news. Had to wait for electrician to do some stuff
Coolangatta Mountain from the chicken shed
Chickens get the vege scraps. Funny to watch them snatch the stuff they like first - grapes, bits of fruit, bread. Cauliflower leaves go last on the list
Electrician did a few jobs. One was to mount the new TV. We got a huge discount buying a display model. A bit scary watching them carry it from the car - first lift and the whole thing bent like a potato chip. They worked out how to get it right. Job done.
Enough time for me to go for a ride to look for orchids - mission is to find the one budding from Thursday. Decided to walk back towards the village to be sure of finding flowers open. First sighting this year of greenhoods seen last year - blunt greenhood now right in the wider track
Budding mosquito orchid on the same side also new for this season
The wasp orchid I saw last week is shutting up shop - nice view of the column
Better light today for photo on the other side of the track of the same wasp orchid chiloglottis diphylla - the reason I walked this way first. Get a win.
Mushroom growing up out of the sand in sand colour
This pebble shape caught my eye. Super smooth. Rattled a little when I picked it up. Very light. Not a stone but some form of seed - maybe from a palm tree
New leaf forming on this greenhood. A way to go as this type typically has 6 leaves - 4th forming
Mushroom cluster in the middle of the track
Great light against the light
Turned to the cross track - South Sand Track - just fabulous mushroom display. This one could be a glow form
Budding greenhood
Love this photo - Mushroom fallen over - similar one alongside and a budding helmet orchid in the middle
Budding helmet orchid - colour markings suggest corysanthes aconitiflorus
A little further developed - colour and shape emerging
Maybe a week to go
Budding greenhood
Black mushrooms. Some go black like this as soon as they get sun
Budding greenhood showing rosette
Close up of the bud. The wispy bits look familiar - like the next one
This was the mission. Find these in flower - pterostlyis concinna. I saw these last year on the track but maybe not this far along
Side on
Rosette of a plant in same cluster
This little mushroom was close by - pin head size.
Did get labellum photograph of the greenhood
Mushroom showing signs of wear
As close to an open mosquito orchid as we are likely to get today (or even this week)
Greenhood budding on the track back
A mix of orchids in the frame. Leaf litter is easing off in a few places = can see orchids
Mushroom action
Good to get out riding. After 2 near misses last week, I went fluoro vest. Needed it as a driver cut the corner on the last bend in the detour. Did not see me until really late.
Dinner: Spaghetti bolognese
Did enjoy watching TV on the new TV. Great picture

Thanks - been doing it for a while - probably in the Top 10 Sportstalk holders.
That is great and I appreciate it.

Nice images like usual, I was wondering that do you live near a forest area or park area?
Our house in Sydney is 400 metre walk from a ribbon of bush that runs along the creek and then runs into the National Park. It is a 4 km bike ride to the entrance of the park and 8 kms down to the water at the bottom of the hill.
Our retirement house on the South Coast is 2 km bike ride to Seven Mile Beach NP. The access road along the edge of the park is 8 kms long - easy to access different sections of it by bike.
