Parsons Bands Orchids out West Head way : April 14 2023
A rainy start to first day back in Sydney. Got shopping to do. I always combine a bush walk with a shopping trip. Today it is to go to West Head side of Ku-ring Gai Chase NP to look for parsons bands orchids
Quick walk down Elvina Track - rain drops on the banksia
Found a few midge orchids finished but no greenhoods yet - big storm rolled in. Was jogging back to the car
Drove to next track - waxflower. Took the umbrella
Spider grevillea
Pea flower
Did find the orchid I was seeking - parsons bands orchids
Eriochilus petricola - always to find two plants flowering
Leaf is tiny
These are not well understood - leaf is a little hairy and smaller than the flower
Shapes are different but both are hairy
Banksia with a view
The view down to Pittwater
A little wildlife action - grasshopper
Millipede close by
Banksia
Midge orchid has seeded. No signs of fringe as the sepals close - might be a type I have not seen.
Plant about 3 inches tall
Narrow-leaved hemigenia
Leptospermum squarrosum
Purple dampiera
Clustered darwinia - both stages
Rain held off - umbrella in hand helps. Did the shopping.
Dinner for a friend and my wife's brother and nephew: roast chicken
Trade action: Bought TKA.DE, SLVO. Adjusted FVRR, AMLP, AMN
