Tom Cats orchid on Bomaderry Creek - a first: April 6 2023
Forecast is a bit iffy. Headed out on the bike earlier than usual - riding up to Bomaderry Creek walking tracks. 17 km ride to start of the walking track but able to ride a km past the gate to hide the bike
Trigger flower right where I hid the bike
Walked up under the powerlines for a while - milkwort. My friends are struggling with ID
Purple fan flower
NSW coral heath flower
Banksia - spiky leaves - not serrated
Better view of spikes
These yellow flowers grow all along the sedge areas on the rocks - not IDed yet
I call these loofah grevillea - not seen them anywhere else
Sundew - hard to focus as it is so little
Heard the yellow tailed black cockatoo. They would not let me get close - in the right hand tree
Started the drop down to Bomaderry Creek - bonnet orchid leaves
Huge trees down at the creek
My almanac told me there might be Tom Cats flowering. I found one in 2nd known spot
Tough to photograph as the plant is 4 metres above ground. I was not game to clamber down from above - too mossy
Creek is gentle but showing brown from the rain in the week
Wooden mushroom
The red tips on this fern caught my eye. A few around
Not often do I get chance to photograph the underside of a mushroom from above - growing at right angles to the slope
Pea flower on the climb up away from the creek - first for the season
Double milkwort under the board walk in the swampy bit
Leaf curling spider has dragged a bee in for dinner
More banksia form
Pale flax lily - late flowering
No idea what this is. Meant to turn it over to see if it was a bug
Rice flower where the bike was parked. Chose to ride up to Berry for the weekly markets. My wife met me there
Stopped for photo of Cambewarra Mountain - only one mountain left to photograph this trip - Berry Mountain
Road up from Nowra is all uphill but on a super smooth fast surface = cruisy riding
Love the markets - they are low key with good produce and a friendly vibe
We sat on the station benches for our lunch bought at the market. No photo of the grain train going south but did get the commuter diesel going north.
My wife cooked dinner: Chicken cacciatore - nice to have a day off after a big exercise day.
Trade action: Bought SESG.PA, KGX.DE, AMLP. Hedged QQQ
