Walking the north end of Seven Mile Beach NP - April 5 2023

Early start on clear blue sky. Walked down to get an unobstructed photo of Coolangatta Mountain - hiding a bit

Got busy doing IM stuff. Feels like a rabbit in the headlights - so many moving parts. Went out after lunch on the bike to walk the far end of Seven Mile Beach NP. Lobelia flowering

Began to feel like a mushroom day

Mission was to find autumn orchids - lots of greenhood leaf evidence - months to go

A white mushroom

Nice cluster of greenhoods - maybe 200 plants in 3 square metres

Hard to tell the variety - does not have a stalk to the leaf. Maybe cobra greenhoods rather than nodding greenhoods.

Twining glycine brings a splash of colour

At the point of turning came across a huge patch of a mushrooms not seen before - some type of inkcap

Starts with a tight cone - then begins to open out

Found one greenhood on the way back. Then went down to the beach

Walked back toward south track - nodding greenhoods

More mushrooms - a repeat

These are different growing just above ground level on a burned out tree

Found the only budding orchid of the day not far from the car park - maybe 200 metres. Acianthus orchid.

The native violets are spreading like crazy. Would be remiss not to share a photo

A big ride and walk for only one orchid in bud. It is a good thing I enjoy the riding and the new finds.

No leeches is always a win.

Had friends over for a drinkna DNA notjer over for dinner. Cooked salmon sous vide.
