Bobbin Head Track smashed by track work : February 28 2023

Well well - another month whips by. Started writing up an idea for the new free funnel concept. Been churning it over for ages. Start writing is the best way.

Got on the bike on a hot afternoon to check Bobbin Head Trail for midge orchids. I did not walk it last week. Lots of fringe lilies still open

Rant time. As I got to the gate, the NP people were leaving. They have been doing track widening - they like 4 metres and smash everything on the edges where the orchids grow

Mini mushrooms in the middle of the side track - quite a few

Leptospermum squarrosum

A few conestick variations

Banksia flowers in a few forms - well developed

No midge orchids left on the main track - all been smashed. Fringe orchid seeded - the 2nd plant I saw two weeks ago

Found this close by - 3 plants for next year

Spied this spider above my head crossing on a single thread

This little flower growing in the median strip - about 4 mm across

Walked under the powerlines to look for eriochilus leaves in a known spot. None showing - too early for flowers - pretty confident this segment was destiyed when they did the pole replacement work

Went down to rainforest segment to look for wasp orchids - too much leaf litter. Fab mushroom

Saw this lace monitor lizard on the way back. It crossed the track, snaked past me in the undergrowth and crossed back behind me on the track

Disappointed at the track work but I was out there

Dinner: Salt and pepper squid.
