Australian violets aplenty in Seven Mile Beach NP : February 10 2023

An early start as my wife headed off to aquarobics classes. Got a few trades done as it was well before US markets closed. I felt I had a lot of time - somehow not a lot got done. The new house feels like a holiday house - chill is the message and the mood

Got on the bike to walk a segment in Seven Mile Beach NP. This section was carved out last season - the palms are fighting back.

Noticed this seed pod which comes out at ground level - there were two. Will not take long as this track will not be walkable as the fronds close in

I had forgotten my water bottle on a very humid afternoon. That scrubbed plans for a long walk - a few Australian violets open. Mostly they open only half way

This one has opened out fully - not seen this before

There were a few of these little pink flowers on the ground - maybe 4 mm across. Worked it out after seeing a few - they are flowers falling off the lantana

Black-eyed Susan - thunbergia alata is a garden escapee

This one looks like a local - Australasian crane's-bill

Close up. As I had no water I walked a tight loop to get back to the bike. No hyacinth orchids left in the spots found last walk. The way my body reacts to effort when it is short of water is a warning to take it easy.

Short ride and walk - good to get out. I was thinking of coming back after lunch to do the other half of the walk. Had lunch - body just shut down - had a rare afternoon nap

Monster thunderstorm rolled in from the south

The sky was boiling black - rain did not last long.

Had friends coming over for dinner - did a simple salmon sous vide with baby potatoes and lots of veges.
