Flying Ducks and Purple from Berowra Valley NP : February 7 2023
Wife went into the office. Walked the dog. Forecast was for rain - mostly that happens over the coast first. Went the other way to walk a not often walked track - not walked since late September - that date is key
Mission is midge orchids in the grassy sections before the bush - Berowra Valley NP - first flower sets the theme - purple - purple fan flower
Dampiera is second up. Given up on the sub species ID
Looking north over Hawkesbury River with tree framing
I said to note the dates - Feb 7 - last saw these on September 29 - more than 4 months - flying duck orchid
Caleana major
This is what they look like when the seed capsule starts to form with the remnants of the flower above
Was not a freak occurrence as there was a second plant flowering. The other one has 3 flowers - this one only one
More purple - tough flower to get a decent photo as it is small - narrow-leaved hemigenia - this might be the beat so far
First time finding this - cannot get ID right off from iNaturalist
Plant has a few flowers - wondering if it is violet bush with the petals opened out
Walked bike track and then back to Great North Walk - views to Cowan
Erect guinea-flower - hibbertia
Fringe lily - a few about
Drumsticks flower
This caught my eye - liiks like a caterpillar - half an inch long. Zoom in and looks like bubbles over the bugs rather than a caterpillar
Whatever it is, this is how it began - a line of bugs
Epacris longifolia starting out down the slope. I chose not to get closer - was a bit tired to take any cliff risks
The cliffs do afford good tree shots
Was a good walk. Surprised to find flying duck orchids so late in the season but that was all the track was offering.
Spent some time working through my Internet Marketing challenges. My last product promotion flopped - yes competition was hot - got only 38 clicks off lists over 2,509. Truth is nobody opens my emails or worse even sees them.
Bought an email cleaning service on special - will check the lists I have built on solo ads. Data will help though I do know they are rubbish. Purchase hadnirs challenges to get what I expected - fixed now
Dinner: Italian meatballs
Trade action: Bought oil E, PXD.
