Midge Orchids on Murrua Trail : January 31 2023
Was up and moving not long after my wife headed off to work. Got a lot to do to get on top of the product launch I am working on. Got too many ideas in my head - how to choose bonuses, which template to follow, should I make a video given I have one already.
When my head gets like this I look for small wins elsewhere. Walk the dog - went the other way and dog loved going down the big hill. Tidied up stuff I chopped down last week. Bashed away at the bonuses
Got on the bike to ride to a local trail looking for midge orchids. A friendly pile of rocks showed me the first one - corunatylis fimbriatus. First time open this year in a known spot
Sometimes one gets lucky - a pollinator with a head of pollen
The fringe is so delicate - flips in the slightest breeze
Side on with a pollinator lurking
A budding plant right next door - zoom in
Spider made its home up top
Orchid spotter alert to things that have the right structure - close study shows spike has leaves and adjacent plants are grasses - not an orchid
Followed the way water flows down the track and found this plant in the long grass just over the level - also corunatylis fimbriatus
Walked onto cross track to loop back to where I saw cryptostylis hunteriana last week - tear drop flower. Walked down and back hoping to find it again
Leptospermum emerging
Close up
Found a few midge orchids in a new spot - looks like corunatylis ruppii
Two plants close by
Fringe lily - still a few around
Banksia serratum
This is where orchid spotting gets hard - structure looks the same as the others but colours are all different
Photos with and without a backing leaf
Detail on this pea flower makes this the photo of the day
Pine leaf geebung - hard to get focus right
Context photo - overhanging the track
Echidna right next to the track was happy to walk toward me - and do video show
Early stage of banksia serratum flowering
Cicadas were busy. Managed to get close enough for a photo - takes a little patience
Just fab having access to the bush a short ride from home
Spent the time on getting home setting up bonuses for the product launch. Modelled a template that I had used before and added in my own twist. Was feeling good when I took the break to make dinner - pizza from scratch
Got back to the computer and software hadn't problem - my work was screwed. Back to scratch - just cloned an existing page to get back. Turned into a late night
Trade action: Bought CPLP, ZIP.AX, CIBR, POS.L, YOU. Sold SUL.AX
