Christmas Tree is up : December 6 2022
Another disturbed night with weird dreams. I seem to be trawling through a jumble of stuff from the past. Stuff is familiar but the sequencing is all a bit muddled and the weird stuff pops in. Might do a night with Fitbit on to see how the Atrial Fibrillation is playing out. The data bothers me about how badly I sleep - why look?
Enjoying watching the crimson rosella. It eats leaves from the yellow gazania growing at the side door. Plucks a leaf and rolls it with the tongue into the beak. Then asks for seed.
Where did the morning go? A bit more thought on ASX portfolio - how to set targets for exiting stocks topped up. Topping up day was on a down day - decided to compute stop loss exits from the top up date and not average cost
Did go to ride looking for horned orchids in a spot seen last year - with a back up plan
Walked a side track that goes through an environmentally sensitive area down to the creek. It was burned 2 years ago and no orchids popped up yet - Christmas Bells there are
Spider nest
Spider grevillea on the way back to the main track
Did find one hyacinth orchid budding in the burnt bit
Walked under the powerlines to see if there were any hunteriana orchids - none but there were heaps of fringe lilies
Just below was this new growth on a banksia - not serratum as the leaves are not serrated
Lots of this new flower forming - a petrophile is my guess
Heaps of orange Christmas Bells and this one red one
Walked the loop away from the powerlines - cicada husk. Zoom in to see the skeletal form over the eye - got to be one of the only creatures that moults and has an exoskeleton over the eyes
Did find a few new tongue orchids on the way back
Fungis the size of a small saucer
Good light for the photo of underside veins of a tongue orchid.
Did not find the horned orchid. So I cycled across to where I saw one budding last week.
Happy to find it open right next to last year's spike - photo work was hard as the flower is narrow and the loght was reflecting off the screen
Close in. There was a variegated hyacinth orchid budding close by - no photo.
Glad I made the detour
Was good to get out on a warm afternoon. Maybe tomorrow I can go for a longer ride if it is not too hot
Did some garden tidy up stuff - that never ends
Dinner: Plan was for pizza - cooked outside on the BBQ stone. Nice evening to be outside
All assembled
And end product.
It is Christmas season - my wife has been decorating in stages - a few nights back
But the tree has to wait until after her son's birthday. There is a colour theme in here - blue for her grandson and red for my granddaughter whose name is Scarlett
