The Colour Purple and Horned Orchids : December 2 2022
The work I have been doing on my Internet Marketing shortfalls is getting to me. The business person in me can see there is a problem - the path to a solution is not as clear. Start again or surrender. My investing coach used to say "keep doing what is working and stop what is not". So I spent the morning doing what works - work out an investing approach for Australian stocks.
Had a new bird visitor - have seen them in the garden but never looking for food - crimson rosella.
Did need to go shopping - slot in an orchid walk before as that always works. Hyacinth orchid mission on Terrey Hills side of Ku-ring Gai Chase NP.
Lots of fringe lilies - the colour purple becomes the theme of the day
Did find the first hyacinth orchid budding
Not seen this flower elsewhere but always here - very small flower and hard to get in focus. I deleted the other out of focus purple flowers - there were a lot
Purple fan flower
Tear-drop flower also in purple
Did find a tongue orchid further along the track than seen before.
Could not find the hyacinth orchids where I saw them last year and walked all the way to the next cross track before turning around. I knew they were on both sides and would find the spot on the way back. This stuff happens for a reason
Stages of opening for fringe lily
Same for Christmas Bells
Talking of Christmas - here is a tree in the right shape
And this was the reason - a new find
A horned orchid - not seen them on this track and the first for this season
Photo work was hard - flower is narrow and against the light the camera would not focus. A bit of cloud helped
Photo from the other side - orthoceras strictum
Was keen to get around for a front on photo - name of flower is apposite - horned orchid
Close in. Also got to meet a monitor lizard
Normally they head to the trees - not sure of ID - not a lace monitor
Not noticed this little yellow flower before - full leaf picture
Close up
More tongue orchids - just a few
Flower and buds
Did find the hyacinth orchids from the spot on the left - openers were on the right where I had seen them last year
Dipodium variegatum close up
The detail is fab and it fits with the colour theme - sort of
Budding plant shows how buds fold away from the spike bottom up
Turned into a good walk - longer than planned yielded a new orchid for the track and the season.
Did the shopping - got to say I am noticing inflation in the prices - yuk.
Focused in on Australian stocks idea before market close. Bought ABB.AX, BFG.AX, REH.AX, SLR.AX. all making one month highs and a mixed bag of telecom, asset management, building materials and gold mining.
Dinner: Cheat prawn and scallop bisque pots
