New Season Bonnet Orchids : November 5 2022
Hard to believe it is a week since my bike tour ended. Been pretty busy getting my arms around catching up the stuff needing doing. Slowest task is catching up on accounting for a few weeks investing activity that straddled one options expiry Friday. Accounting is done but have not tallied up the scorecard. Hard to say where the day went - chatted with our guest for a while.
Did go walk the south side of Lovers Jump Creek Track in the late afternoon - found the first of the bonnet orchids for the season open. This flower is about thumb nail size - camera found its focus point
Stepped back a bit. Cryptostylis erecta
These are always the hard photos - a bit of click and hope. Hyacinth orchid budding - most likely rose hyacinth - dipodium roseum
Also bonnet orchid budding - burgundy backing to leaf is the clue
This was the photo challenge with the flower less than half the size of the bonnet orchid
Fine hairs on the stem of the back flower are in focus.
Had to cut short the walk as they are doing hazard reduction burning further along the track and the smoke was getting intense.
We went out to friends for drinks and dinner. I hate dinner plans that start at 5 pm. It takes forever for food to arrive by which time the host was pickled. Dinner was going fine. Somehow the host got offended when I suggested that asking the same question 5 times was not going to change the answer. Disappointing end to my first week back home - I will not be going back.

Disappointment there may be but the orchids made this all pretty and beautiful :D
