Mosquito and Sharp Greenhood Orchids : March 28 2022

It rained overnight like it has for weeks now. Was a dry but cloudy morning - did some work. Orchid photos in the garden

Checked forecasts as the morning moved on. Decided to walk Lovers Jump Creek when things started looking iffy for big rain. Track has been smashed by the rain

Did find new openers for mosquito orchids - light is low

And further on the track some more

Light was low. Pollinator action on this one caught my attention

Upcoming orchids - two types of leaves here

Creek running hard and brown

Sharp greenhood - new flowers in a known spot

Green version

And a drooping look

Looked on top of rocks on moss banks

There is a bud there. This is a known spot for thelymitra pauciflora but too early to be budding

Will have my eyes on this in coming weeks

Got the steps in. The leeches were the worst I have ever experienced - 4 or 5 every time I looked. But I did stay dry.

Rain began not long after. Over it.

Did dinner prep a little early for spaghetti bolognese. My wife came home from seeing her son armed with fresh tuna his friend had caught. It was simply fab for sashimi

Was hoping for an earlier night- did not work out that way as we were hit by a huge storm. Spent nearly two hours in a tag team bailing water from the front of the house around the side. The sump pump in the wine cellar was able to cope. Huge steps from that walking back and forth
