My Actifit Report Card: September 28 2021

A clear blue sky day to greet my wife's birthday. It is a big round number day and tough to have to do it lockdown style. Her singles buddy is coming over for dinner and I will be on chef duty. Planted out a few orchids on a tree segment that came from my wife's father's place. The dendrobium came from one of the local nurseries - a freebie

Also planted out an oncidium - the ones out wild are doing better than the ones in the orchid house

Took the bike out to go look for rock orchids down in the national park. Mine are flowering at home - time to seek them out wild.

I walked around the top and found some in a less risky place for photos

There will be quite a few more flowers over the coming weeks

Bearded orchid now open in a known spot - first time for the season. It is the marker for flying ducks

A few more days for caleana major. Only one other bud with two snapped off.

Surprised a small goanna into the tree. Met a few other walkers there. Walked down with one to show him orchids. He found a few off track that I had missed

Next part of the ride plan was to check for sun orchids up the hill using GPS locations I saved.

A few new bearded orchids but no sun orchids - not warm enough and temperature dropped as I was out

Nice ride and walk as the weather cooled

Dinner special - roast duck Jamie Oliver style

Rub with rosemary, ginger, lemon zest, salt pepper. Orange and garlic cloves inside

Roast two hours at 180C on oven rack. Catch fat in tray below and roast potatoes in a sunset of that.

Was yum and enjoyed by all. Winner.
