Bad Cycling Habits

Hello, dear friends in the cycling community. It's been a while since I didn't ride my bike, school runs are just too much for me. But I've got a great idea to share with everyone here today in the #cycling community.

I remember making a post once here in the community, where I talked about the occurrences of bike accidents in some countries, the question I didn't completely answer was, what brings about the accidents occurrence most times? So today, I will be sharing with everyone some common bad cycling habits.

I would first love to talk about listening to songs while cycling. This is not bad at all if the cyclist is conscious of his environment and plays the song at a very low volume that he could here even a scratch on his back. But it's a very bad riding habit for a cyclist to put on air pods, headphones or earpiece, and turn on his best song to the loudest volume. Take a country like mine for instance where the economic hardship has caused so many people to lose their minds, a vehicle driver sometimes drives without caring about pedestrians and other road users, what's ringing in their head is how to make a little cash and buy things for their family. If a frustrated man horns and a cyclist who's listening to loud music refuses to give way, he might decide to do whatever comes to his mind. So it's only advisable to ride bikes without listening to loud music, that can only be possible if one is riding on a less busy road or an empty street.

I've also noticed that most people ride bikes with heavy loads with them. This is very disheartening for us cyclists. Though I know that in my place, everything is costly, even public transportation fares for a very short distance are shocking. So because of this, most people have automatically made their bikes their only and major means of transportation with or without loads.

One of the needed factors for an effective bike ride is "Balance." But carrying heavy loads on a bike and riding at the same time, distorts the complete balance between the cyclists and the bike itself. Someone who is riding on a busy highway may become a victim of an accident if he loses his balance and crosses to vehicle lanes.
So it's advisable to ride bikes without heavy loads that can affect one's balance on the bike. It need be that one must go with the load, then it should be done in parts, get some drop and return to get the rest of the loads.

It's also not advisable for a cyclist to carry out stunts in busy roads. Stunts are fun to do but should be done in the right places not on highways or bust roads. It's a bad cycling habit.

The last bad riding habit I would talk about is the one I've been a defaulter of. Driving in the opposite direction to traffic is a very dangerous cycling habit. To clarify my wrong act, I did that because the U-turn I would take to get to the next lane was very far for me to ride to, and I was already weak.

Some car drivers drive at unimaginable speeds that they don't even see vehicles they have driven past. Just imagine driving in the opposite direction to such a speeding car, the result would never be funny to tell anyone.
In a nutshell, even if there are no cyclist lanes, never compete space with bigger vehicles.

Thanks for reading. I hope one or two persons must have learned from my write-up.
Enjoy your weekend friends.
