Bouncing back after a weekend of a stomach bug - Weeks 3 and 4
I had a bit of a stomach bug the prior weekend and missed a few runs and my update post. Catching up on both.
What
Four weeks down, 13 to go! I'm training for a 50K race around Mount St. Helens the first weekend of August. Week three training was progressing well. It was a recovery week and I was enjoying the healing process. Unfortunately some nasty bug had different plans and from Friday night through the following Tuesday I didn't leave the house. I missed three scheduled runs, but over the course of a training plan this happens. I can't focus on the missed runs. Race day doesn't depend on three missed runs, it is the full base that is built over the entire training plan.

⚡ This was a scheduled speed work out but it was my first day feeling better and I was happy to just get outside and get my legs and lungs moving again. It may have been a brief 1.6 miles, but it was great to get the blood flowing.
🏃 Felt great to get out for an extended time on my feet. Felt a bit tougher than it should hove, but it typically takes me a full week to recover fully when I have not been feeling well
🧘♂️ Stretching was needed this morning. It started feeling back to a normal routine, but it will take until next week to feel fully back to normal.
⛰️ It had been raining hard all week and was raining as I headed out the door. The running gods must have been with me because the rain let up about ten minutes in and didn't start up again until the last mile 🌧️. This was a tough run. It took me a good hour to feel in the groove and by that time I was on the muddy and sloppy trails. I felt good the second hour, but the last 30 minutes were tough. I'm still not felling all the way back to full strength, the stomach bug hit me hard last week.
☕ A good nights sleep had me feeling great and a good stretching routine and shake out run were just what I needed. I'm looking forward to being back to 100% next week, but feeling good after a nearly 20 mile run this week.

On to Week Five
If I was going to be sick at some point this training cycle, week three was likely the best week it could have happened. It was an already scheduled recovery week and I still have plenty of training to build up my base.
