Vinland Saga King Canute: From Weak Prince to Ruthless Ruler caelum1infernum Actifit Report Card: September 9 2024

Remember Prince Canute, the cowardly and weak prince from season 1? After the war and the death of his father, the king, he transformed into a ruthless ruler, far worse than his father ever was.

One by one, he poisoned his rivals, and the worst scene is when he conquered all of England and destroyed every single rebellion. He stood alone as the king of England, while his brother Herald became the king of Denmark.

Suddenly, after winning all of England, Herald, his brother and king of Denmark, fell ill and died. The worst part is that Canute orchestrated his brother's death because he believed it was better to rule alone than to share power. He lost his mind, it seems.

Now, he converses with his father's imaginary head. He remembers his father saying, "Do you really want this crown? This crown has its own power; it controls you, not you controlling the crown. I thought I would help the country, but I have no control over the crown—the crown controls me."

I'm not sure if Canute truly understands this, but he seems to grasp it better than he used to. He even mentioned that the only one he can talk to freely is his father, even though it's just an imaginary floating head.

I predict that the heroes from season 1 might have to go to war against him. This is just my prediction; I'm not sure if it will come true. Let's see what happens.

I also remembered that when Canute was a prince, their father wanted to kill him because he was seen as weak, while Prince Herald was considered the stronger son.
