World Series of Poker : Las Vegas

The most prestigious event in Poker every year is undoubtedly the World Series of Poker which is currently being played in Las Vegas, USA. It starts in late May and runs for almost 2 full months. This year it consists of 153 events with many of those running for multiple days. For aspiring Poker players it is a Mecca and people come from all around the world to compete every year.

There are lots of different variations of Poker played. Probably too many to list here. Of course No Limit Hold’em is featured heavily as it’s one of the most popular rule-sets, however if you are any kind of poker player there is something here to pique your interest. If you’re interested you can check out the Tournament Schedule on the WSOP site HERE and see all the rule-set variations of the different Tournaments.

Of course I’ve never been to the WSOP, but I’d like to get there one day. It’s a Bucket List item for me so in the meantime I am happy to just watch it play out from a distance. It is possible to watch a stream of the event live on Poker Go though it does cost a monthly subscription and so it’s really only for the hard core Poker enthusiast.

Personally, I follow the VLog of Daniel Negreanu on YouTube as he is currently producing daily content and you can get a feel for how the World Series runs, but also what it’s like as a player to navigate the different tournaments and handle things like sleeping patterns and time management that he uses to maximize his performance.

Daniel is definitely an eccentric character and he's not everyone's cup of tea, but he seems fairly genuine. It can be insightful and refreshing to see a true champion of the game in his struggles as doesn’t try to gloss things or hide the downs. He does regular Hand Breakdowns and tracks his Profit and Loss openly.

If you’re interested in Poker then the World Series in Las Vegas is worth a look. There is always something interesting going on, so if nothing else it’ll give you something to talk about next time you’re at the Poker table.
