Wczoraj wybraliśmy się na spacer do centrum Mons. Po drodze do miasta najpierw zmoczył nas wiosenny deszczy, a później słońce wysuszyło. Od Grand Place na zachód wychodzi pieszy deptak, przy którym pełno jest butików i barów. Wiele z tych lokali powstaje na chwilę i po kilku miesiącach lub roku znikają. Niektóre są bardzo niszowe, inne podążają za modą. Nie ma żadnej gwarancji, że pomysł na biznes wypali, wyjątkiem jest sklep z rosyjskimi artykułami spożywczymi, jest tam też nieduża polska półka. Zdarzało się, że kupowaliśmy tam twaróg, ale od czasu wybuchu pełnoskalowej wojny nałożyliśmy na ten sklep embargo i tam nie kupujemy. Zastanawia mnie, skąd wzięło się zapotrzebowanie na tego rodzaju asortyment, czyżby w okolicy roiło się od Rosjan?

[ENG] Yesterday we went for a walk in the centre of Mons. On the way into the city we were soaked by the spring rain, but then the sun dried us off. From the Grand Place there is a pedestrian promenade facing west, lined with boutiques and bars. Many of these establishments appear for a while and disappear after a few months or a year. Some are very niche, others follow fashion. There is no guarantee that a business idea will take off, the exception being a shop with Russian food, there is also a small Polish shelf. We used to buy cottage cheese there, but since the war broke out, we have imposed an embargo on this store and no longer buy from it. I wonder where the demand for such a range came from, could it be that the area was swarming with Russians?

Doszliśmy też na plac przed dworcem w Mons. Zakończenie budowy i oddania do użytku nowego dworca opóźnia się już o dziewięć lat. Miał być gotowy w 2015 roku, później przez kilka lat nic tam się nie działo, od dwóch lat prace nabrały tempa i zgodnie z kolejną obietnicą ma zostać oddany do użytku jeszcze w tym roku. Zobaczymy czy tak będzie.

[ENG] We also arrived at the square in front of Mons station. The completion and opening of the new station has been delayed for nine years. It was supposed to be ready in 2015, then nothing happened for a couple of years, in the last two years work has picked up again and according to another promise it will be inaugurated this year. We'll see if that happens.
