Wczoraj miałem jeszcze wolne. Żona stwierdziła, że musimy pojechać na zakupy do Francji, miała na myśli spożywcze zakupy. Na co ja stwierdziłem, że skoro chce jechać do Francji to może najpierw pojedziemy do Lille na świąteczny kiermasz, a w drodze powrotnej zajedziemy do supermarketu. Tym sposobem znaleźliśmy się ponownie w pięknym Lille. Chyba po raz pierwszy byliśmy tam w środku tygodnia i to poza sezonem. Zgodziliśmy się, że miasto wygląda zupełnie inaczej, kiedy nie ma na ulicach tłumów ludzi.

[ENG] Yesterday I still had the day off. My wife said we had to go shopping to France, she meant grocery shopping. To which I said that if I wanted to go to France, maybe we would go to Lille for a Christmas fair first, and then stop at a supermarket on the way back. This way we found ourselves again in beautiful Lille. I think it was the first time we were there in the middle of the week and out of season. We agreed that the city looks completely different when there are no crowds of people on the streets.

Kiermasz świąteczny rozstawiony jest tradycyjnie w centrum miasta, na placu Generała de Gaulle stanęło ogromne diabelskie koło, a kilka kroków od tego miejsca są stragany z jedzeniem, piciem i świątecznym rękodziełem. Uraczyliśmy się grzanym winem i zapiekanką z boczkiem i lokalnym serem. Stragany były jeden do jednego odzwierciedleniem tych sprzed roku. Chwilę się tam jeszcze pokręciliśmy i ruszyliśmy dalej.

[ENG] The Christmas market is traditionally set up in the city center, there is a huge Ferris wheel on General de Gaulle Square, and a few steps away from this place there are stalls selling food, drinks and Christmas handicrafts. We treated ourselves to mulled wine and a casserole with bacon and local cheese. The stalls were a one-to-one reflection of those from a year ago. We hung around there for a while and then moved on.

Po drodze minęliśmy Beffroi de Lille, czyli wieżę ratuszową. Budynek ratusza przypomina trochę ten z Calais, w Lille wieża jest znacznie wyższa, ale budynek ładniejszy jest w Calais. Nie wiem dlaczego na widok tej wieży przypomniał mi się od razu niesławny były prezydent Olsztyna :) Na rondzie obok ratusza dumnie prezentuje się Porte de Paris, czyli łuk triumfalny wzniesiony w XVII wieku dla uczczenia zdobycia miasta przez Louis XIV.

[ENG] On the way we passed Beffroi de Lille, the town hall tower. The town hall building is a bit like the one in Calais, in Lille the tower is much higher, but the building in Calais is nicer. I don't know why, when I saw this tower, I immediately remembered the infamous former president of Olsztyn :) On the roundabout next to the town hall, the Porte de Paris proudly stands, i.e. a triumphal arch erected in the 17th century to celebrate the conquest of the city by Louis XIV.

Wracając do centrum na jednym z bloków dojrzeliśmy wesoły mural, nie udało mi się znaleźć informacji o autorze, ani tytule tego dzieła, dlatego roboczo nazwałem go "Dwutygodniowy rząd Morawieckiego".

[ENG] Returning to the center, we saw a cheerful mural on one of the blocks. I couldn't find information about the author or the title of this work, so I tentatively called it "Morawiecki's Two-Week Government".
