Soccer every weekend again as from today , the new season started !
Its the start of the soccer ( we call it football ) season and ofcourse the game is watched by grandpa , grandma , mum and dad.
We had to go to the west part of Rotterdam, near teh Blijdorp Zoo. I grew up in this part of the city and went to school here. This is a new football blob and the grounds and the cantina are very new. The B on the building is inviting. The smell of smelly puber guys and girls is around when we enter.
I laugh at myself, the fact that the smell is here so early must mean it’s there always. We got some tea while watching the boys do their warming up and take shots at the goal and the goal keeper.
The team is a selection of the 46 boys and these made it to the first team. They train twice a week and they all have to adjust because it’s a mix of teams and their players into this nee team.
Our son loves the game and I think this is a team he will do well in. But I am bias , very bias. As a mum always is.
The fact that from now on the Saturday is soccer day is a must and I love that we do this as a family thing with a bunch of other parents.
As of today I am also the washing lady. I will take the clothing and was it for the new game. Although it’s rained twice during the match it also was quit sunny. Sitting here writing about the game makes me smile.
Oh how I love seeing them do all they love in life while we watch from up close and personal. Yep that’s how life should be and that’s what I wish for all the kids. To have shouting parents at the line of the field wishing the team will win and their son will score !

Oh and not to forget we played 2-2 and our son made the second goal.

My kids had a lot of fun with Soccer as we call it in Canada. They participated for about three seasons and that was about it. Never got into any other sports since, not even follow professional level either. I do enjoy the World Cup Football when I could spare the time, more than hockey or lacrosse.
