We are the champions!

It kind of seems like it has been going on forever, but the College World Series finally came to a close last night. Tennessee was able to edge out Texas A&M for a fantastic game three win. If you have been following me you know that the CWS championship is a best of three format,so the fact that they were playing a game 3 at all means it has been an interesting series.

I was watching a bit of the game and saw when Tennessee jumped to an early lead and A&M pulled their starting pitcher somewhere in the third inning.

It's pretty impressive that The Aggies were able to make it such a close game. With a final score of 6 to 5 it was definitely an exciting series. I have never been to the campus of Tennessee, but I have a bit of fondness for the college after visiting Nashville several times. Sure, the college is across the state in Knoxville, but it is still fun to cheer for them.

If you have been following me for a while, you know that I have kind of picked them up as my secondary team when things are going great in the Big 10 or one of my most hated teams is doing well.

While things were heating up at the college world series down in Omaha, Nebraska, things were also getting hot in the Stanley Cup finals.

After a long long long series, the Florida Panthers finally raised the cup after a game 7 victory.

I think what makes this so impressive is the fact that Edmonton fought back after quickly falling to a 3 to 0 deficit in the series. They were basically on the verge of defeat when they somehow strung a run of three wins together to tie the series and force a game seven.

That's some determination if you ask me.

Unfortunately, they couldn't quite finish and Florida came away with the 2 to 1 victory to earn the title.

I look forward to the day that the Detroit Red Wings are back in contention. I used to watch them pretty religiously back in the day. I honestly don't watch a lot of hockey anymore, but we have a local team that has seen some recent success.

Perhaps I will write a story about it tomorrow!
