Tourney Time in the GMAC

Just like that we are closing the door on another regular season of Tiffin softball. It has been great watching the Dragons compete this year and the good news is, they aren't done yet!

After completing a pair of sweeps this past weekend, Tiffin clinched their spot in the GMAC (Great Midwest Athletic Conference) tournament. The ladies are no strangers to the conference tournament as they had a pretty good run last year going further than they expected to.

I hope the same holds true this year as well.

They started off last Friday afternoon with a 10 to 0 run rule victory over Ursuline University. Later that night they then had a 4 to 2 victory over the same Ursuline team. I didn't get to see much of either of the games because I was working on our travel trailer repacking the bearings. It's a messy job, but it has to be done every year and I am glad it is out of the way now.

Saturday the Dragons were back in action against Lake Erie University. They were playing at some high school in the area though. It's funny because the high school field was turf and nicer than many of the University fields I have seen!

They started with a 7 to 3 victory in the first game of the double header against Lake Erie and then they had a 14 to 0 run rule victory over them in the second game. Once again, I wasn't able to watch a lot of the games. My friend called me up and asked if I wanted to go disc golfing, so I was busy doing that on Saturday night.

It was my first time out this year and I actually played pretty horrible. I had fun, but I am glad it is behind me an I am hoping I can improve the next time I go out. I've been thinking about getting a net so I can work on my drives, but I am not sure I want to spend the money. Perhaps I just need to get out on the course more!

I'd love to buy a basket sometime too so I an practice putting.

The Tiffin team earned themselves a #7 spot in the tournament. Since there were 8 slots available, they actually finished a little better than they thought. It was Malone University that barely squeaked into the running.

Unfortunately, being a 7 seed means they have to face the #2 seed Hillsdale team that they lost to twice already this year. The good news is, the two games they lost were quite close, so I think they have a chance here.

The other good news is the fact that it's a double elimination bracket, so even if they lose this first game against Hillsdale, they still get to keep playing in the tournament. I think they are going to win though.

Trevecca is the #1 team in the bracket and they face off against Malone. Finally, Northwood University has to faced Findlay, and Ohio Dominican faces Cedarville. It's going to be an exciting four days of softball for sure.

You better believe I will be giving you all the updates here.

Tonight I get to see if my niece is back in action with her high school team. They didn't have a game on Friday, so she got her wisdom teeth out. I haven't heard if she has been given the okay to play in their game tonight.

Last time we checked in with her she was doing pretty good, so I hope she will be able to play.
