Then there were eight...
I know, I know, this is supposed to be a post about football, but I just can't help but share photos of my nieces and nephews when I get the chance. First, I like using actual photos I took versus stock photos and second, they are all just so awesome! How can you not cheer them on!
Anyway, if you read my post yesterday you know that my niece had a tough game last night. It went about the way we expected it to. The number 1 team in Ohio easily beat her team, but they had some good moments. My niece even got to score a nice layup which was really cool. I hope they can learn some lessons from the loss and use them in the future to play better.
There, now that basketball is out of the way, we can talk about football.
The NFL playoff picture has been condensed down to 8 teams now. Houston had a blowout win against Cleveland. I've gotta be honest, the Browns weren't looking too bad in the first quarter of the game, but then things just went to crap.
This one is hard for me to believe because it feels just like a year or two ago Houston was absolutely horrible. How things can turn around right?
Kansas City had a pretty easy win against Miami which is kind of sad for me because Miami is one of those teams that I don't mind cheering for if they are not playing the Lions. Probably the biggest stunner of the weekend was the absolute rout of the Dallas Cowboys by the Green Bay Packers. As much as I am not a Packers fan, I hate the Cowboys even more. Especially after the events of the last Lions game against them.
I can't say I was sad to see Dallas get demolished. That does set up the possibility of another Lions/Packers match-up, which doesn't excite me too much either, but we will see what happens.
Detroit had a close game against the Rams which might ring some warning bells for many fans out there. The Lions have some good pieces, but they still have things they need to work on as well. I'm worried they might have their work cut out for them to advance any further.
No matter what happens, getting their first playoff win in 32 years is just the first step in what I hope to be a good future for the Lions. Plus to think that it was back in 2008 they had zero wins in the season. It's amazing what a little time can do.
Buffalo had a great game yesterday against the Steelers. Buffalo is another one of those teams that I like to cheer for when they aren't playing the Lions. It was also fun watching all the fans throw snow in the air anytime the Bills did something good. Their defense was on point yesterday and Allen is just a beast. I'd love to see Buffalo make it to the Superbowl.
That huge win by Buffalo was good, but the beat down Tampa Bay gave Philadelphia was even better on Monday night. It's hard to believe this is where we are after how much the Eagles dominated the regular season. I guess it just goes to show you... you never know.
I'm pretty happy that the Lions game is on at a more reasonable time next weekend. We've got Houston vs. Baltimore and Green Bay vs. San Francisco on Saturday, then on Sunday Detroit vs. Tampa Bay, and Kansas City vs. Buffalo.
If you care about this sort of thing, Vegas has things going this way:
Baltimore beats Houston, 49'ers over Packers, Lions take down the Buc's, and Buffalo with a slight edge over KC.
Use that info how you will...
