Thanks for nothing Ohio

As you probably know, I was down in Ohio last weekend watching my niece play some fall softball. We had to get a pretty early start on Friday morning, so that didn't give me a lot of time to get any bets in on the Fan Duel app. Instead, I had to use the app and change my location once we made it down to Ohio.

Sports betting is now legal in Ohio, so it wasn't a huge deal, but I always kind of feel funny about how it keeps your bets separate based on the state that you place them in. I'm sure they have a good reason for it with all the regulations and stuff, but it still just feels less seamless than it could to me.

It actually took me a little bit to dig into my account and find the results of my bets to share with you today. They weren't right there on the main screen like I expect them to be. Unfortunately, the apps are smart enough to know when you are using a VPN too, so you can't even trick it that way.

Well, you probably could if you had the know how, but I don't feel like messing with it that much.

I actually did so horrible with my college bets this weekend that I didn't even bother placing any NFL bets. Realistically, I'm only down about $6, but I was hoping to be up at least $6, so I kind of just said screw it.

I did a two leg parlay hoping that Kansas State and Nebraska would cover their spreads. Nebraska held up their end of the deal, but Kansas State let me down pretty hard. It was actually quite close if I remember correctly. Just one more field goal and they would have had it.

I know I do it a lot, but I kind of hate spread betting. It seems to be the one thing that frustrates the most people when I read the betting sub reddits. It seems like there is always someone complaining about someone not covering the spread.

I also put money down on Maryland to beat Ohio State. I knew it was a long shot, but those the kind that pay off big for you. They were looking good going into halftime tied 10 to 10. Unfortunately Ohio State kicked it into over drive and they had no chance.

Finally, I did some moneyline betting on a three leg parlay of Missouri, Washington State, and Texas A&M. They all lost. Every single one of them. Talk about horrible!

Not to be daunted, I tried to put in a two leg spread bet parlay. As you cans see, both of them fell short. The Texas Oklahoma game was closer than they expected and I missed the spread by 1.5 points. Likewise, TCU lost to Iowa State instead of beating them. Just horrible!

I also decided to throw a dollar at the Baltimore Orioles, for them to win against the Rangers. Well the Rangers are in the AL Championship, so I think we all know how that went.

I'm down to $136 now and I was hoping to be closer to $150 going into this week. I guess I am going to have to do better this weekend. I will probably skip betting on Thursday night football and just wait for the weekend to get here.

Then again, maybe I will start betting on college volleyball. Perhaps that will be a good change of pace for me!
