Senior Day at Tiffin
It was a big weekend for the ladies on the Tiffin Dragons Softball team as they got to celebrate a few things this past weekend. First of all, it was senior say on Saturday. This is a day that the team gets to celebrate the seniors on their roster and give them a little extra love for the time and commitment they have made over the years to the team.
Speaking of time and commitment....
It was also the weekend that they got to celebrate the grand opening of their new office and locker room at the field. There were a handful of donors that made this possible including @mrsbozz and myself as well as much of her immediate family. The real boost though came thanks to a family with the last name Petras. They flew in on their private helicopter to take part in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Pretty impressive huh? I don't have any photos of the facility because I haven't been back down there myself, but I am sure if you really really care, you can probably find some media online relating to it.
It was a good weekend over all for the Dragons as they had a double header on Saturday against Ursuline College. The first game of the double header was a thriller that went into extra innings. It was tied 4 to 4 at the end of the 7th and that held until the 9th when Tiffin got a walk off run to end the game 5 to 4.
The second game was a bit more lopsided with Tiffin finishing the game by run rule in the fifth inning beating Ursuline 12 to 0. That pitching remains outstanding.
Sunday the ace pitching continued as they had a double header against Ohio Dominican University. They won the first game 3 to 0, but then the second game slipped out of their hands and they lost 12 to 1. That's a pretty uncharacteristic showing for the Dragons this year, but thankfully it is more the exception than the rule.
I have little doubt they will be back to their winning ways today as they head to Detroit, MI to play Wayne State University. That's where @mrsbozz got her masters degree from. Hopefully the rain we have been getting this morning doesn't end up washing those games out.
