NFL Week Nine Recap: Unstoppable

It ended up being a pretty long day for @mrsbozz and I yesterday. We had a full day of work and then we went to watch our niece play volleyball in the district playoffs. We thought it was going to be a relatively quick evening given how well her team has played through the season, but they surprised us last night.

As I mentioned, we expected it to be a quick three game victory for the other team, but my nieces team fought hard and they pushed it to five games. The last game was pretty close too. It was only by a small margin they lost the chance to move on to the next round of the playoffs. They should be very proud of their performance. I am.

My niece played great of course. She wasn't always on the court, but when she was, I feel her presence had a tremendous impact. It's been fun watching her grow over the years. She only has one more year of school volleyball before she graduates. Now we just wait for Spring when soccer season starts.

I've gotta admit, it's been pure joy watching the Lions play football this season. We had far too many years where they just absolutely sucked. I hope this feeling doesn't end for a long long time!

The Jets beat the Texans on Thursday night 21 to 13, and then on Sunday Atlanta handed Dallas another loss 27 to 21. It's starting to look might grim for the Cowboys. Buffalo had a close win against Miami 30 to 27, and Cincinnati crushed Vegas 41 to 24.

The Chargers took a win away from Cleveland 27 to 10, and Tennessee squeaked past New England 20 to 17. The Washington Commanders continue to look good, though they were playing the Giants, so a 27 to 22 victory isn't that surprising. Holy crap, I can't believe I am saying this, but Carolina snuck one past New Orleans 23 to 22. A win for Carolina is pretty huge right now. It's also rather shocking.

The Saints were putting up insane points in the first one or two games of the season and then they just went down like a flaming ball of wreckage. The fact that The Panthers just beat them should tell you everything you need to know!

Baltimore spanked the Broncos 41 to 10, and Philadelphia beat Jacksonville 28 to 23. Arizona handed Chicago another tough loss 29 to 9. It looked for a while there that The Bears were on a decent upward trajectory, but now I am not sure that is the case.

Detroit got a huge road win against their inter-division rival Green Bay 24 to 14. It was a fantastic game and I can't help but notice that the officials (both on the field and off) still seem to favor pretty much any team but the Lions. That ejection in the first half of the game was absolutely ridiculous. Thankfully, these days the Lions are resilient enough to still find a way to win. In the past that wouldn't have been the case.

The Rams beat Seattle 26 to 20, Minnesota got a much needed win against Indianapolis 21 to 13, and last night Kansas City remained undefeated with a 30 to 24 win against Tampa Bay. I didn't watch the game, but I wonder how much the refs helped on that one.

Despite KC being undefeated, the Lions are considered the best team in the league right now. What kind of bizzaro world is this? I think I need to go lay down for a bit!
