NFL Week 8 Recap: It's a good day to be a Lion!
While everyone else was sitting in their warm house on Sunday morning getting ready for the days NFL games to start, I was out at one of the local soccer facilities watching my brick wall of a niece play a different kind of football with her team.
I'll write a bit more about that in a couple of days, but I wanted to share at least one of the photos with you. I've got some better ones saved for that other post. I promise.
It was a dang good week for professional football, especially if you are lucky enough to call yourself a Lions fan. I'll actually be the first to admit that the game was a bit of a hot mess, but we can get to that more in a little bit.
Thursday night the Vikings were handed another loss by the Los Angeles Rams. The 30 to 20 beating moves them down into third place in the NFC North now.
Philadelphia beat Cincinnati 37 to 17 and they now sit in second place just below the Washington Commanders in the NFC East. Cleveland got a much needed win against Baltimore 29 to 24, but they are still sitting in last place int he AFC North.
Detroit throttled the Tennessee Titans 52 to 14, but those 14 points the Titans got were pretty disgraceful. The defense really screwed up by allowing those two touchdowns to be scored. If our offense hadn't been clicking, this might have been a much closer game. The Lions need to remember that and adjust accordingly.
I hope their defensive line spends a fair amount of time this week watching footage to see where they screwed up. Needless to say Detroit sits solidly at the top of the NFC North now.
Arizona beat Miami 28 to 27 in a very close game and New England beat the New York Jets 25 to 22. Both of those last two teams sit at the bottom of the AFC East with a 2-6 record. In fact, the AFC East looks horrible with Buffalo being the only team with a winning record and pretty much running away with the division. They could seriously clinch halfway through the season!
Okay, maybe not.
Atlanta beat Tampa Bay 31 to 26, and Green Bay had a big win against Jacksonville 30 to 27. That's the win that moved them above the Vikings in the NFC North.
Houston squeaked past Indianapolis 23 to 20, and Los Angeles crushed the Saints 26 to 8.
Buffalo had a solid 31 to 10 win against Seattle, Denver beat Carolina (obviously) 28 to 14, and Kansas City beat Las Vegas 27 to 20.
Kansas City remains the only undefeated team in the league right now, but I think we can all agree that several of those wins were handed to them by the officials, so they shouldn't really count. I honestly don't put a lot of stock in the fact that they are undefeated, but it remains a fact, so I had to put it in here.
The Commanders beat the Bears 18 to 15 pushing them down to the bottom of the NFC North. Finally, San Francisco crushed the Cowboys 30 to 24 and Pittsburgh beat the Giants 26 to 18.
Look at the Steelers sitting at the top of the AFC North.

I was surprised that Chicago didn't pull out a win there but everything else went about the way that I thought it would. I liked your snarky comment about the Panthers.. that is totally deserved.
Yeah, that was a pretty crazy game with Chicago. It really should have been theirs. have yous seen the videos of the player taunting the fans and then allowing the hail marry catch? Sad. They need more discipline.
