NCAA Football Week 3 Recap

Man, it was a really good week for college football if I am being quite candid. I didn't think I was going to get the chance to watch my Michigan State Spartans play since my wife and I were camping. Then @mrsbozz suggested that we bring the TV from the bedroom to set up outside the trailer and I agreed we could do that.

We were actually out most of the morning, but since the game didn't start until 3:30, we were back in plenty of time to catch it all.

It was a cupcake game, but when Michigan State has taken the field lately, you never know what to expect, so I wasn't feeling too confident. They ended up beating Prairie View A & M 40 to 0, so like I said, it was a really awesome week for college football.

I had some hopes that Arizona would make it a bit more of a game on Friday night, but they unfortunately fell to Kansas State 31 to 7. Costing me two dollars in the bet I made and also costing Arizona their top 25 ranking.

Somehow Michigan still sits at #18 and they beat Arkansas State 28 to 18. I'm starting to get less and less worried about how the Michigan State/Michigan game is going to go this year. Whereas last year it was an expected rout, I think it could actually be a good game this year.

Alabama had little trouble taking down Wisconsin (42 to 10) in an early season Big 10/SEC match up.

Meanwhile, #16 LSU had a narrow victory over South Carolina and #14 Oklahoma State crushed Tulsa 45 to 10. Boston College has had a bit of a Cinderella season so far, but they finally lost the other day to #7 Missouri 21 to 27.

I think next weekend they face off against the Michigan State Spartans, so that could be an interesting meet up.

Notre Dame had a huge 66 to 7 win over Purdue and Texas beat UTSA by 49 points to snag the #1 spot in the nation away from Georgia.

Georgia is probably the biggest news from this past weekend. They had a very close game against Kentucky and were only able to win by one point 13 to 12. That's a pretty embarrassing score for a team with as much talent as Georgia has.

It shouldn't have been anywhere near that close. I'm not really sure what happened there. Finally, I think Nebraska deserves a great big shout out for their win over Northern Iowa. More importantly, they are now sitting in the #22 spot in the national rankings. It's been a long time coming and I am happy to see the Big 10 so well represented.

Somehow Ohio State had a bye this past weekend, so I hope they actually did something fun with their weekend.

While some schools continue their preseason schedule next weekend, other Big 10 schools will be starting their in conference games. That Illinois/Nebraska game should be good as well as USC/Michigan. I'll talk more about all of that on Friday though!
