Michigan's Big Ten Matchups This Weekend

Hopefully this is going to be a good weekend of rest for the Michigan State Spartans. They are on bye an they really need some time to regroup and get their "stuff" together.

The game against Wisconsin last weekend should have been a lot closer. I am not saying they should have won, but the Spartans really should have been more "in the game" than they were. Their horrific fourth quarter showing should have definitely given coach Dantonio something to talk about after the game. Like wise, it should have made it very clear to the team the things they need to work on.

The following weekend isn't going to be a cakewalk for the Spartans when they come up against Penn State off their bye week. Depending on how the game goes this weekend they could be facing a team that is hungry for redemption or resting on their laurels.

The reason I say that is because this weekend the other Big Ten team from Michigan, U of M is facing off against Penn State.

With a record of 6 and 0, Penn State is ranked number 7 in the national football poles. Now, we know those poles are pretty much rigged and some might argue strength of schedule, but I still think 6 and 0 is nothing to shake your head at.

Sure Michigan has a record of 5 and 1, but there have been some glaring issues with their offensive protection of the quarter back that I think will come back to bite them pretty hard in this game. Similar to their game against Wisconsin where they were basically destroyed.

As I said, the outcome of the Penn State/U of M game will really set the tone for the match-up between Michigan State and the Nittany Lions.

Penn State has has some close outcomes to what should have been some easy contests, so I am going to rule the Wolverines out just yet. I think the Spartans stand a better chance next week if Penn State wins this weekend though.
