Close your eyes and it will go away

At least we get the bad stuff out of the way early. That's the only way I can console myself when I think about what this weekend is going to be like for my favorite sports teams. This is actually one of those very rare occasions in Michigan where three professional sports teams are all playing at the same time.

Sure, it's not uncommon for Basketball, Football, and Hockey to be happening at the same time, but this time we get to throw a little bit of Baseball into the mix.

The action starts tonight with Michigan State facing newcomer to the Big 10 Oregon at 9 PM. There is a good chance I will be sitting around a campfire at 9:00 PM tonight, but that doesn't mean I won't have the TV on off to the side watching the game.

Okay, sort of watching the game. With it being a home game for Oregon and them being ranked 6 in the country, there is a good chance that Michigan State is going to get trounced. I hope they at least put up a little bit of a fight.

Meanwhile, tomorrow, the Detroit Tigers continue their playoff run when they start a series against the Cleveland Guardians (remember, they changed their name). It looks like my niece actually has the weekend off from softball which is good since she has homecoming this weekend.

That doesn't mean there isn't anything going on though. The rest of the NCAA top 25 has some work to get done between Friday and Saturday.

Along with the Michigan State/Oregon game tonight, we also have Syracuse facing #25 UNLV. I'm not familiar enough with either of those teams to even guess how that one might go. Tomorrow, #7 Penn State should have a pretty easy go at home against UCLA.

Meanwhile, that scrappy Missouri team who has snatched the #9 spot and a 4-0 record on the season faces #25 Texas A&M. I'm not sure how they are 25 and UNLV are 25 as well, but oh well. Maybe it is a typo.

SMU who is 4-1 on the season has a trip down to Louisville against the Cardinals who are 3-1 and ranked #22 in the nation.

#23 Indiana who are 5-0 should have a pretty easy time against Northwestern, but then again the Wildcats tend to surprise teams at the worst possible time. Could this be the weekend that Indiana gets their first loss. I might have to put some money on the spoiler this weekend.

#3 Ohio State faces Iowa in Ohio, so that should be a pretty cut and dry game. Meanwhile, Georgia will be looking to bounce back from their Alabama loss when Auburn comes to town. #12 Ole Miss should have a good game against South Carolina, and #1 Alabama will probably destroy Vandy.

It's pretty crazy to see Florida State sitting at 1-4 on the season. They face a #15 Clemson team at home this weekend. They will probably have about as much luck as Utah State against #21 Boise State.

After Baylor's loss to BYU, they will likely be looking for a win against #16 Iowa State. I think that's going to be a long shot though. Iowa State is 4-0 on the season. #11 USC comes to Minnesota for what will probably be an easy win, and #10 Michigan heads to Washington for what might have been a good game last season. Washington seems to be on the ropes this year though and I expect Michigan will add another win to their books.

#4 Tennessee faces a 3-2 Arkansas team. I don't expect the Volunteers will get their first loss of the season this weekend, but who knows. Finally, #8 Miami is taking their 5-0 record to a California team that is 3-1 on the season. I think that one has the potential for an upset as well.

I'm not going to tell you what to watch this weekend, but as for betting, my money is going on Northwestern over Indiana, and California over Miami.
