Catching some "Fall Ball"
My wife and I are heading back to Ohio (any Pretenders fans out there?) this weekend to watch my niece play with her travel softball team. On the way down we are going to stop in Tiffin to visit our other niece (her older sister) and see what her new place looks like.
Now that she is in her sophomore year, she has moved out of the dorms and she is sharing a house with some of her university softball teammates. I think she is really excited to show it to us. One of her roommates grandparents purchased the house and is allowing them to stay there for a reasonable rent price. This means she should have a secure place to stay for the rest of her undergraduate career.
It's been a while since we have been to the Columbus area, so I am looking forward to getting down there and visiting with my in-laws.
The good news is, this recent hot spell is behind us and we are supposed to have some pretty cool temperatures for the softball games on Saturday morning. I was thinking about taking shorts to wear, but not that I see the forecast, I think I am going to take jeans instead.
The other good news is the fact that her games on Saturday are all in the morning. That means we will probably be out of the park and on our way home by 2:00 or 3:00. Softball can be a trick sport. Sometimes you have a game at 9 AM, then you don't play again until 5 PM. That can make for some extremely long days.
Michigan State doesn't play this weekend, so we don't need to worry about catching that game (which is probably a good thing). Ohio State plays at home at Noon, so there will likely be a bit of traffic in the downtown area, but not too bad.
Sunday morning we usually get up early enough that we can make it home before the Lions start playing at 1 PM. If my niece has a bracket play game early enough in the morning, we might try and catch that, but it will be up to @mrsbozz to make that decision. I am good either way.
Historically, her travel team hasn't done that great in bracket play on Sundays, but you never know if this could be the weekend they turn things around.
No matter how they do, I am looking forward to getting out and watching my niece hit the field. You can really tell she loves the game when she is out there and I feel like every time she plays she does something even more amazing than she did the last time.
Here's hoping for some hot bats this weekend!
The softball game is one of my favorites, but it long time ago I stopped playing softball. I was a softball player when I was in high school students. Now not more.
I haven't play softball since I was in high school. Also a really long time ago. It was mostly with friends, but we had a good time.
Thank you so much for stopping by.
