Bozz Family Fantasy Football Week 9 Recap: Where are my walking papers?
Just like my other nieces softball photos from a couple of weekends ago, I took a lot of photos at the recent volleyball game. That means I am going to be sharing them with you off and on for a while now. This post isn't about volleyball though. Instead, it's about what remains of my fantasy football career. The truth is, if I were a coach in the real NFL, I probably would have gotten fired a long time ago.
In case you haven't guessed yet, I suffered another loss this week. It wasn't even close this time. I have to be honest though, I really didn't check my roster the way I should have. It's not that my team performed poorly this week as much as the fact that I did.
I got up on Sunday morning to go to church and then @mrsbozz and I had a late lunch date with some friends. Before I knew it the games had started and I had made zero changes to my roster. I don't plan on making that mistake this weekend, but the damage is likely already done.
We are now more than halfway through the season, and it is pretty clear that at 2-7, I am probably not going to make it to the playoffs. For as much as I make fun of the Carolina Panthers in my weekly posts about the NFL, I really don't have much room to talk do I?
Like I said, as you can see from the final score, it wasn't even close. As we dig into the line by line scores, you will see where I may have made some changes to make things better for myself.
The good news is, @mrsbozz won this week and though it is a long shot, she might have a chance to squeak into the playoffs. I don't think either of us are holding our breaths.
Just by taking a quick glance at the scores, it is pretty clear receiving was my weak spot this past weekend. All of my wide receivers got a total score of something like 11.10 points. That's not going to fly in a league as competitive as this one. With Harrison Jr. only netting 1.4 points, I actually had a bit of a chance, but when your players don't show up, it can really put a damper on your chances.
Allen had a solid game netting me 23 points and my running backs at least carried a bit of the load. It's not like they put up stellar numbers, but they at least put up scores close to the average I expect. Even my tight end carried some of the load with 10 points. I'm not sure what I am going to do moving into the coming week, but it is safe to say something needs to change with my WRs.
The fact that Metcalf was on bye was one of the biggest factors in my loss this weekend. Goff continues to put up horrible numbers despite the fact that his team keeps winning. As much as I hate to say it, it is kind of reminiscent of Kansas City. In a fantasy league, Mahomes is an absolute crap quarterback, but his team continues to win. That's kind of how I feel about Goff. I just hope he shows up when I have to put Allen on the bench.
None of my other players would have made a difference in my loss this past weekend.
I'm not cleaning out my office just yet but I also don't have a lot of hope for the rest of the season.
I guess we will see. I just hope next time I play @mrsbozz I can take the "L".
