Big Weekend Ahead in the Big 10

The good news is, Michigan State won their basketball game last night. The bad news is, that will likely be the only win that Michigan State gets this weekend. It's going to be a cold cold reception for the Spartans as they travel to Columbus to take on the #1 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes this weekend.

I still don't think the Buckeyes deserve the #1 ranking that they have, but even if they were in the top five, they still have a good chance of wiping the floor with a Spartans team that was been plauged since the beginning of the season.

As I said though, the basketball team got a win last night and that is the first step to shaking off the huge upset loss they had versus James Madison. Next up is Duke and they really need to have the wheels greased if they think they are going to have a chance in that game.

Personally, I think they have the talent for sure, but for the last decade they have chosen this sloppy play method that causes them countless turnovers and countless missed opportunities. If you watch a game, you will likely hear commentators lauding the accomplishments of Hoggard. Don't get me wrong, he's a great player, but he spends more time barreling down the lane drawing offensive fouls than actually helping the team. If he could just step up, I think the rest of the team would fall into place.

They could be so good. They have so much talent. I hope this is the year they see it come to fruition.

Back to the football side of things... Michigan has a tough game in Happy Valley against Penn State. Let's be honest, this is the first real competition the Wolverines have faced this season, so it will be interesting to see how they handle it. Personally, I think they will probably win, but I hope Penn State gives them a run for their money. Even better, a Penn State win would put me over the moon!

I think everyone knows the game that really matters happens two weeks from now when Michigan faces Ohio State. It's called "The Game" for a reason.

If you were looking for something else to watch this weekend, Maryland at Nebraska could be a good game even though neither of them are ranked. Speaking of unranked teams, that Georgia Tech/Clemson game could be good too.

I hope Kentucky makes things tough for Alabama, but the Wildcats have a tendency to disappoint in big games like this. #13 Tennessee versus #14 Missouri is probably the one game you want to pay attention to in the SEC conference. I might try to get home in time to watch that one on Saturday.

I also recommend you keep an eye on the #18 Utah versus #5 Washington game in that 3:30 slot. Hopefully Youtube TV offers the multi-view option for those games!

Saturday night, I'd keep an eye on #9 Ole Miss versus #2 Georgia. A close second might be West Virginia versus #17 Oklahoma, but I have a feeling Oklahoma will probably win.

Of course there is always the North Carolina/Duke game. It's not basketball, but I still expect the rivalry holds true.

Finally, if you can stay up that late on the East Coast, USC vs. Oregon might be a good game to watch. They both have decent records and USC is looking to get back into the top 25.

As far as the NFL goes, who are we kidding, it's a hot mess. All I know is that I will be watching the Lions face the Chargers at 4:05 on Sunday. It will be nice to see them back in action after their bye week.

They banned Harbaugh from the sidelines for the rest of the season. We shall see if this affects anything.

If anything it just gives them an excuse for when they lose. It's not going to be because they aren't that good (okay, they are kind of good as much as I hate to admit it), but it will be because they got railroaded. Everyone is always looking to shift the blame.
