A Quick Update from Colorado
This is going to be a quick post from me today. I am still catching my breath from spending the majority of the day on the softball fields. In fact, some of you might consider this a crap post given how short it is going to be, so if you want to withdraw or withhold your vote, I totally understand. I just wanted to get this out there for the people that follow me and actually care.
Eight AM games seem to be a tough nut to crack for the Lady Lasers Scarlet team. They 7 to 4 loss to the Northern California team they played this morning. After a two hour break, they were back in action against a Colorado team and they ended up beating them 17 to 1. That first game was actually winnable for the girls. The seven runs that they gave up were all earned in the same inning by the NoCal team, so they easily could have avoided that deficit if they had been a little more on top of things.
As usual, they looked a little tired and not ready for what was going to be thrown at them.
I heard someone say that the ball travels ten feet further at this altitude because of the thinner atmosphere. That definitely seemed to be the case in the second game.
There were at least three home runs in that game and I think two of them were by the same player. My niece struggled with her hitting a bit, but I think she will rebound tomorrow and have things sorted out.
Tomorrow we have a 2PM and a 4PM game against a team from Utah (the Avalanche) and then Texas (Express Gold). Thankfully, the weather is going to be a little cooler tomorrow, but I will write more about that in a future post.
Stay tuned!
