A pair of losses...
It was a rough outing for my younger niece last night. Coming off their big victory a couple of nights ago, they weren't able to carry that momentum into the game last night. The game ended after the 5th inning as my niece's team was mercy'd or run ruled, 14 to 4.
As you might imagine, defense was a concern last night as many plays were not being made that should have. Likewise, the bats were taking a bit to get warmed up and before they had the chance, the game was over.
My niece went 1 for 3 I think as far as at bats. She had two fly outs in her first two at bats and then she hit a great ball into the outfield to get on base. Unfortunately, they weren't able to convert on it.
I'm sure she had a little bit of fun despite the loss. A couple of the ladies on the opposing team are on the travel team that she will be playing with this summer, so it was probably good to see them.
As this season continues to be a struggle for her and her team, I look forward to the brighter days she has ahead of her. I think she is going to have a lot of fun this summer playing with her travel team.
If last year is any indication, they are going to be awesome to watch!
The Tigers on the other hand I am not sure I will be able to watch at all this year... They continue to struggle dropping another game to Toronto last night.
To be fair, they at least took this one into extra innings before they eventually fell 4 to 3 against the Blue Jays.
It also looks like there was a bit of drama on a call at 3rd that might have changed the outcome of the game. I also have to guess that the new rule where a player starts on 2nd in extra innings didn't help the Tigers either.
I'm not one to give up on teams, so I will likely still be cheering on the Tigers for many years to come, but it's also good to temper your expectations and know when you just need to watch a game for the joy of it and not because you actually expect your team to win.
That's kind of where I am at with my nieces Varsity team. Any wins they do get are just icing on the cake if you know what I mean!
That's all I have for today. I'm on a bit of a betting hiatus, so if you were expecting a post about that like I usually do on Thursday, I apologize.
