Wrapping Up The Season
It's been a long hard season, but we finally reached the culmination of the Bozz Family Fantasy Football league this past weekend. If you have been following me for a while, you know that I was out of the running a long time ago. The fact that I was able to finish off in 9th place instead of 12th place is actually a bit of a miracle if you ask me.
For the past couple of weeks I have had zero players on my bench and I haven't even bothered to look at my roster. I mean what's the point right since I am not even in the championship bracket.
Sadly, @mrsbozz dropped a bit further down and finished the season in 11th place. Like me, she didn't bother to look at her team over the past couple of weeks. It's not like there are a lot of moves that could have been made anyway.
I blame myself for that. I really should have done a better job of keeping track of the metrics of the league. I made some mistakes thinking that higher scores would be more exciting. What I didn't realize is allowing so many high scoring players on teams would leave the pool pretty sparse for everyone else in the league.
Ultimately, my brother in law ended up being the big winner of the league. He was in the championship game against his wife and their daughter finished in fifth place. It was a really good season for all of them. As champion he now gets to receive one $10 gift card from each of the other members of the league. His preferred establishment was Amazon.
There has been a big push among some members of the league to have a live draft next year instead of the auto draft that we have had since the league started. I have some concerns about moving to a live draft, but there is a good chance I am going to get vetoed if we even decide to do the league again moving forward.
I know for sure that I am going to be eliminating at least one position from each persons roster. Having three wide receivers on your team as well as two running backs and a flex position is just too much. It ends up leaving scraps for everyone else in the league. As I said, I was a bit too aggressive when I set all of that up.
My problem with a live draft stems from the fact that people who know what they are doing will likely do well and the other folks who do this just for fun and don't really follow football really won't do well. I see that as a bit of an unfair advantage, but I don't know how to fix it.
Then again, I know a bit about football and clearly that helped me absolutely zero percent this season as I struggled all through the Fall and Winter.
I have little doubt we will end up having more and more conversations about this until we find ourselves at the start of next season. You better believe I will be sharing whatever we decide moving forward here with you.
