My Actifit Report Card: August 9 2024
I’m happy to say that I’ve become a published poet. For the first time ever, a magazine accepted two of my submissions, and only a day after I submitted them. I think that kind of turn around is pretty unheard of in the world of writing.
Today, coincidentally, I took my kids on a little trekking adventure to find the home of Ryokan, a Japanese haiku poet who lived on the other side of this bridge about 250 years ago.
Unfortunately, after crossing the bridge, we took a wrong turn and never found Ryokan’s old hut. Maybe we’ll have better luck next time.
At least I got my steps in.

Thank you. I appreciate your weekly encouragement.
Now that's what I call a great actfit post!
Congratulations!
Thank you. It wouldn’t have been possible without everyone’s support and encouragement here on Hive.
Congratulations! I too am happy to hear the great news✨
The picture is very nice. But it must have been very hot.
May you reach the hut of Ryokan next time!
It was hot, but since there was a nice breeze, it was bearable.
I hope to go to this spot again in September and actually get to where I planned to go. 🤣
Congratulations! I suspect that this is only the beginning.
That would be nice. We’ll see what happens next. Getting my first acceptance under my belt does make me want to make more submissions to other journals.
Congratulations on being a published poet! That is awesome!
Better luck finding his hut next time across the bridge!
Thanks. I hope to get back to that area next month. Apparently, I was only like 50 feet away from where I was trying to go.
Congratulations on having your poems accepted for publishing !
That is quite a long bridge ! Looks like a great place to walk.
It was nice, and it offered great views of some sort of flowering trees that had massive bees climbing all over them. They were fun to watch.

which place is this bridge at, if i may ask?
https://maps.apple.com/?address=1405,%20Kugami,%20Tsubame,%20Niigata,%20Japan%20959-0136&auid=5289443232024863232&ll=37.664056,138.813126&lsp=9902&q=Sengando%20Suspended%20Bridge&t=m
It’s just south of Yahiko, in Niigata, Japan.
ohhh it is in that part. i have been to niigata for snowboard only
It’s not near the ski and snowboard slopes. 😊
But it’s a really pretty village with great access to the sea. If you visit Niigata again, I recommend visiting Yahiko and Teradomari.
ok. i'll add that to my bucket list.
Ooh thats awesome news!! Congratulations to you, very happy to read that you are getting further with you poems:)
Thank you. Little by little, one step at a time.
