Walking Through the Gray: Steps in the Fog
I stepped out today and found myself in what could only be described as a live-action black-and-white photo. 5 kilometers through a cold, gray haze—where trees stretched bare arms to the sky and the canal mirrored the gloom.
Was it freezing? Yes. Did my face go numb by kilometer two? Absolutely. But there’s something oddly therapeutic about walking through this kind of weather. It strips everything down to the basics: breathe in, breathe out, keep moving.
7500 steps later, I’m back inside, defrosting my hands and grateful I didn’t let the weather win. Days like these remind me that progress isn’t always glamorous. Sometimes it’s just a foggy, freezing walk—but it’s progress all the same.

Yes indeed, fog or mist can be great to add mystique, or create very minimalistic pictures. However, it does also limit the possibilities :-) One single tree can deliver one great image in the fog, but can deliver 100 great pictures in different combinations of sun and sky and clouds...

Ah, yes, I see what you mean. Taking photos on rainy or cloudy days is a bit like that too, since getting good shots is a bit more challenging. Close-ups often work nicely, especially those with bright colors. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Yes indeed, for close ups, clouds work just perfect, because there never are harsh shadows or too strong light, it's basically a gigantic softbox. For landscape photo's, not so much :-)
But the thing is, fall is still pretty much ok, so until end of October, beginning November, but after that, there is nothing left to take macro's of outside :-D All the branches are bare, and the ground is full of brown rotting leafs (still pretty with the different colors in October though).
But...
In about 4-6 weeks, spring will visit us again, buds on the trees are slowly starting to show themselves already. Fresh green will start popping up... And soooooo looking forward to it :-D

Yep, exactly on the photographic effect of clouds! A giant softbox indeed! Yes, I can definitely see that. Fall would tend to be much more interesting for macro shots than winter, that's for sure! Oh yes, spring is coming very soon! I can't wait for you! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

We tend to start seeing small glimpses of spring that is slowly coming nearer! Some moments of sun and blue sky (I didn't even recognize the damn things at first!), some plants and trees that are slowly preparing,...
But February can still be a cold and very harsh month, weatherwise... But luckily it is a short one! :-D
