20,000 Steps: A Day Painted in Light and Reflection

They say you measure a day by its steps. Today, mine totaled 20,000 — but it wasn’t just about the numbers.

The morning started with a pre-sunrise walk. Streetlights and shadows danced on quiet streets as the world yawned awake. There’s something surreal about walking at dawn; it’s like stepping into the day before everyone else.

By lunchtime, the sky had turned dramatic. Thick clouds rolled across, mirrored perfectly in the canal’s calm waters. It felt like nature had handed me a painting, and I didn’t even have to try to frame the shot.

Then came the evening. A symphony of light as the sun melted into the horizon. The air cooled, the day dimmed, and the quiet returned — a perfect full-circle moment to close the day.

Three 5 km walks later, I feel recharged, inspired, and connected. The bonus? These photos. Sometimes, the reward for a fitness journey is more than just health — it’s the moments we get to capture along the way.

I wonder how many hours (or minutes) borniet will need before he can finish fixing the HOPE token tipping bot. 🤔🤯 It's weird that while the bots are built from (almost) the same code, some break more often than others. 🤯😅

Anyway, I have already tipped you all the tokens that I can tip you for the day (except !DIY as usual), so I will start replying to other Hive authors' comments (such as the PEPE frog) then take a break for the day. 😏

Good question. Usually once he's aware of a problem, he's able to fix it quite quickly. Yeah, the variance has to be the configuration files.

Yep, and it apparently had 13 days of catching up to do. The bot itself was still working, but due to node issue, it basically got stuck. @borniet is working on a new bot-management interface, to make fixing things easier, and so that I can reboot them when he's not available. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

If it's being used as an adjective, which it is, then the hyphen is correct.

Yep, he said that he has the basic dashboard set up and working, and now he's focusing on access and security. I think that it will definitely help us keep the bots up and running much more consistently. I didn't know that you originated the idea, but very cool! Thanks much! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Depending on the issue, and where I am at that moment, I’m able to fix it quite fast :-)
Simply rebooting the bots, I can do from my iPhone. If it needs some reconfiguring, I prefer my computer, which I don’t always have access to :-) But even then, it only takes about 5 minutes or so.
The bots all use the same codebase, the difference lies in the configuration indeed. Why one breaks down more often than the other? Well, in order to not overload one single hive-node with a gazzillion requests from the same IP-address (of my server), I configured the different bots to use a shuffled list of nodes.
Just like !HOPE now, the problem was (again) not with the bot, but with the node. Normally, when a node goes “bad”, the bot should switch to another node automatically, however, depending on just how bad the node goes, it might keep the bot in a wait & try again state (which happened here).
I noticed a lot of issues with different (normally very stable and well regarded) nodes lately…

Thanks for the detailed explanation! 😀 Even if a "restart button" for @tydynrain will not help solve all the problems of any of your token tipping bots, it would at least help him solve some technical problems without needing to contact you first. 😏

Anyway, the !BEER command on your comment won't work, since the BEER bot detected another bot command (actually 5 bot commands) on your comment. 🤯😅

The word "post" seems to be a generic word when referring to app usage, which can mean anything from publishing posts/comments to initiating token transactions to custom JSONs. 🤔🤯😅🤓

Well, with each of these actions, you "post" a transaction, first via the HTTP protocol, next you post it onto the blockchain ;-)

You need to select a Hive node though to publish such transactions on the Hive blockchain, and that can be your own node if you run one. 🤔🤓

Maybe you mean that there are actually (at least) two post activities involved when making a transaction on the Hive blockchain. 🤯😅

Got it! Thanks for letting me know! Reconfigured and restarted it just now, so it is catching up.
I have an alerting system for when the bots go offline, as in “script crashed”, however, lately I’m seeing a lot of issues with different nodes. If that happens, the bot keeps working, but doesn’t get any data from the node, so no alerts sent.
What I normally regularly do is check the activity of the bot, but that takes a lot of time, which I often don’t have.
So one of the things I’m working on is an overview page with the status & last activity of each of our bots, with a way of restarting them if needed.

I'm glad that you saw it! Excellent to hear! Node issues definitely seems to be the primary cause of breakage, and not only with bots. Yeah, I figured that you've been too busy to check. I'm surprised that I didn't notice it.
