Forest, Fields, and 18k Feels

This afternoon, I laced up my walking shoes, expecting an average stroll. What I got instead was an 11km journey that reminded me how much beauty can be found close to home. The forest trail greeted me first, carpeted in leaves and hugged by skeletal trees stretching toward the sky. Quiet, peaceful, grounding.

Then came the lake, glowing gold as the sun slipped through a gap in the clouds. A reminder that even fleeting moments of light can transform everything around them. I stopped to breathe it in—air so clean, it felt like medicine.

The fields opened up next, vast and green under a moody canvas of clouds. There’s something about standing in an open space that puts life’s worries in perspective. Step by step, my thoughts cleared, replaced by gratitude for this simple yet profound experience.

I wrapped up my walk at the church behind my home, its spire framed by dramatic evening clouds. A perfect end to a soulful day of movement. 18,000 steps later, I’m ready to rest. But my heart? It’s lighter than ever.

Yup, I love them like that!!! I certainly enjoy (and prefer!) sunny days, but these kind of days allow for such moody photography that the mood almost comes out of the pictures and slaps you in the face!
