Chasing the Calm Before the Storm: A Morning Walk to Remember

There’s something almost magical about early morning walks, especially when you know the weather is about to turn on you. Today, I ventured out before dawn, the sky painted in soft blues and grays, the air carrying that unmistakable pre-storm tension. It’s like the world knows what’s coming, but for now, it’s holding its breath.

The canal was my companion today, its water a mirror reflecting the moody clouds above. There’s a kind of peace that settles in when you’re walking alongside water; the ripples gently nudging you forward, the reflections reminding you to look up every once in a while. Despite the looming threat of rain, I couldn’t help but feel at ease, letting the quiet of the morning seep into my thoughts.

I’m not going to lie, the weather didn’t wait long to unleash its fury. By noon, the skies opened up, and any hope of a second walk was washed away. But I’m glad I didn’t let the forecast scare me off—7.5 km and 10k steps later, I felt like I had beaten the odds, at least for today.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned on this fitness journey, it’s that you have to grab the good moments when you can. Sure, the weather can be unpredictable, but that’s life, right? The key is to keep moving, keep pushing, and find beauty even in the gloomiest of days. And if you happen to stumble upon a serene canal before the storm hits, well, that’s just the universe’s way of saying you’re on the right path.

I ran some numbers today, that I wrote about in my post today, and at my present rate of growth, I gain about 3,500 HP in year's time! I could barely believe it! That means that I'll probably only be around 767 HP short of my year-end goal of 10,000 HP! That's not bad at all! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Yeah, that's what I've been feeling. I think I'm a little afraid of jumping into something else that I know will take up much time when I really get into it...lol! I'm sure I will! I remember when I was orginally learning Java. Unfortunately not yet, at least not in this new round of learning. I still have to settle on a good framework with which to learn, either an IDE, or a website even. Something that I could use on both my computer and my phone would be useful too. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

True, good tools are half the game sometimes :-)
Don’t push the mobile quest too far, I’ve noticed for myself that I have been putting too much value on that in the past, while in practice rarely using it, unless for a quick fix kind of thing. For those occasions, I now use indeed the mobile browser version of codeanywhere, or often even simply Vi, using a mobile SSH terminal application, which also works wonders!

Very much so! I used to SSH into my router and network from my phone, through on onboard VPN, to access files on a hard drive connected to the router. Yep, I dig SSH quite a lot! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

I’m pretty positive about beating this years time !INDEED, as I will have more training, and definitely more experience in how the trail works, it’s narrow points and all that. So yeah, going for it!
Yes, yet another new token! :-) But you’re too fast! :-) I only just put it up today, doing some first tests. Tomorrow, I !HOPE, I’ll be able to continue in it. The idea is to couple its sales on the number of steps or km’s I walked the past week :-)
