The Final Stretch: Completing the 100km Deathtrail

avatar

I’m thrilled to share that I’ve completed the 100km Deathtrail, and what a journey it’s been! Yesterday, I kicked off with a solid 15km, and today, I dug deep to finish the remaining 85km. Altogether, that’s 120k steps and 8100 calories burned in two days of sheer determination and grit.

Starting early this morning, the trail greeted me with a breathtaking sunrise—a perfect metaphor for the challenge ahead. The 50km mark came and went, a reminder that I was only halfway there. But the beauty of the landscapes and the camaraderie of fellow walkers kept me going, step after step.

Today’s 85km was the true test, pushing me to every limit I thought I had. But as tough as it was, it also offered moments of reflection and appreciation for the journey. The sweat, the fatigue, and even the doubts were all part of what made crossing that finish line so incredibly rewarding.

When I finally stepped across the finish line, it wasn’t just about completing the 100km—it was about proving to myself that I could. Every step taken over these past two days was a step toward this moment, and it’s one I’ll never forget.

This experience has been more than just a physical challenge; it’s been a journey of resilience, endurance, and personal triumph. The Deathtrail was daunting, but now, on the other side of 100km, I can say it was worth every step. Here’s to the next adventure and whatever challenges it might bring!

Shot with iPhone 14 Pro Max, edit with Adobe LR using my own presets (you can get them too soon!).

You're very right about that! Most people don't push themselves to see what they're actually capable of accomplishing! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Everything in this world. Everything is consciousness, and this world is a mirror of it, viewed through a particular lens of perception. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

A lens of perception. That’s quite a nice way of saying it !INDEED!
I always use the example of glasses for my children. You can view the world through pink glasses, or through toilet glasses (which translates to the same word “Bril” in Dutch, but doesn’t make sense at all in English :-D )

I'm glad that you appreciate it! Those lenses of perception create our experiences in the world. I like that example a lot, and yeah, translating things like that between languages rarely goes well! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

Yes !INDEED, these lenses are what shapes “our” version of the world. For my children, I used to call it “bril”, but I actually call it my “frame of reference”, where you can still visualize the concept for visual people by looking throug and actual frame.

Yes, precisely, they frame our world, and in more ways than one! We can both liberate and imprison ourselves by these limited and often
-distorted frames of reverence. Yes, I'm very visual myself, so it's a very helpful analogy. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Visualization helps a lot for many people I’ve noticed !INDEED :-)
That’s why I used to use the glasses/toilet example when they were little :-) Can you imagine their faces when I said they are looking at the world through the toilet :-)
Yet, that is actually what many people are doing…

It sure does for many, though of course there are different kinds of learners. Some learn easiest by seeing something done, while for others it's hearing it described, and some people actually have to just do it to learn it. I'm like that too...lol! I can indeed imagine the faces that your children made...lol! It's true, the thought and feelings that we entertain color our world! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Same here, I learn through a combination of things, but hands-on is absolutely the most effective one for me! And I love learning that way as well :-) It also makes that you are always very easily applicable in different situations, because you easily adapt...

Yep, exactly that! I'm a versatile learner, but the bar none most effective way for me to learn something is to do it! Bingo, yes, you said it! When you know well how to do something, it's easy to adapt, improvise, and make things work for new things with just a little modification! It's super cool! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
