Balancing Act: Steps, Sunrises, and Social Vibes

Today was one of those days where life decided to throw a little bit of everything at me. I kicked off the morning with a breathtaking sunrise that nearly made me forget the day ahead. That quiet road, the first hint of dawn… it’s moments like these that make the early alarm worth it. But once I hit the office, my step count flatlined faster than a Monday morning meeting.

By the time I clocked out, I was still well below my 10k step goal. Instead of stressing, I decided to roll with it. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your fitness journey is to live a little. So, I swapped out steps for socializing and spent the evening cheering on some friends as they rocked the stage.

Sure, 7k steps isn’t a new personal best, but tonight’s live music more than made up for it. Plus, I’ve got that sunrise pic to remind me that tomorrow is a new day, with new opportunities to hit my goals. Balance, right?

I’ve learned over the years that one of the most important capabilities to have is flexibility! You can’t control… well, most things… so going with the flow is the best thing to do, and it brings you places that are often far beyond your imagination! ;-)

They play in two different bands, this one is a rock-cover band, AC/DC, Golden Earring, that kind of stuff. The other band they play in is a metal band.

Well, yes, I would, but I don't think that I can devote enough time to it to get to a solid level of skill. I'd say the violin and piano, with maybe guitar too. I was learning to play the ukulele for a sort bit, which was fun. I like novel musical integrations of different genres, instruments, languages, perspectives, and the like. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Seeing your current level of Hive-activity, I can imagine that :-) I must admit that at the moment, I'm not playing that much music myself :-) But I do miss it, and plan to play more again in wintertime. Piano, violin and guitar are a nice selection, I play guitar and bass, and we have a piano in the house (my daughter's), but I rarely play it. Violin seems incredibly hard to me, so haven't tried that yet, although I would love to play it!
Yeah, I like those contrasting integrations as well, it mostly brings something fresh, something new.

The thing with the violin is precision, which is way less with the guitar/bass and piano. And these days, with my big hands, precision isn't my top capability :-D But boy, it's heavenly when played with passion and virtuosity! But that's a truth for many instruments. If you hear some people on the bass, it's incredible!

On the bass I’m pretty good they say, I also teach in bass guitar. As for the guitar, I’m just ok. But that’s also mostly due to timing constraints.
Yeah, mastery of any craft is well worth observing!

It sure is !INDEED ! And once you have reached a certain level of playing, which doesn’t need to be that high even, it starts being very relaxing to play. But that is after you’ve hardened your fingers and all 😂

That reminds me of the stages of learning something: unconscious incompetence (you don't know that you don't know), conscious incompetence (you know that you don't know), conscious competence (you know that you know), and then unconscious competence (you don't know that you know - you've internalized it and do it without thought, body memory).
